Las distrofinopatías son enfermedades musculares causadas por variantes patogénicas en el gen DMD. El presente estudio tiene por objetivo recoger y analizar las variantes genéticas que presentan los pacientes diagnosticados con distrofinopatías en el hospital del niño “Dr. Francisco De Icaza Bustamante”. Se realizó un estudio observacional, descriptivo y retrospectivo, la población estuvo constituida por 20 pacientes que cumplieron los criterios de inclusión y exclusión. La edad promedio de diagnóstico de DMD/BMD molecular fue a los 8 años con 6 meses, el sexo masculino predominó, 95% de los casos. La ciudad de residencia más frecuente fue Guayaquil, representado el 80% de los casos. Las manifestaciones clínicas frecuentes fueron: trastorno de la marcha (94,7%), y debilidad muscular (78,9%). En 9 pacientes se encontraron deleciones (45%) y en 3 pacientes duplicaciones (15%), en 8 pacientes variantes patogénicas puntuales (40%), de los cuales 6 correspondieron a variantes sin sentido (75%) y 2 probandos a variantes patogénicas en el sitio de corte y empalme (25%). Las deleciones/duplicaciones fueron las variantes patogénicas más frecuentes encontradas mediante la técnica MLPA, la secuenciación es una técnica indispensable en el diagnostico de variantes patogénicas puntuales y las nuevas terapias mejoran la calidad de vida y disminuyen la morbimortalidad en las distrofinopatías.
