<p>Se evaluó el efecto de tres edades de rebrote (tres, seis y nueve semanas) sobre la producción de forraje, calidad nutricional y perfil de ácidos grasos en gramíneas de pastoreo (diez cultivares y un híbrido)y en gramíneas de corte (cuatro cultivares). Se utilizó un diseño de parcelas divididas con bloques al azar, cuya parcela principal fue la especie forrajera y la subparcela, la edad de rebrote. Los ácidos grasos predominantes presentes en las gramíneas de corte y pastoreo fueron el palmítico (C16:0), linoleico (C18:2) y linolénico (C18:3). La concentración de ácidos grasos en el forraje fue afectada por el estado de madurez en las gramíneas de pastoreo y de corte, pero los efectos no fueron similares en todas las especies. Con excepción del pasto M. maximus cv. Tanzania, que presentó un mayor contenido de precursores de ácido linoleico conjugado, las demás especies presentaron contenidos similares de precursores, lo que sugiere que el uso de estas en la alimentación de bovinos en sistemas de doble propósito resultaría en concentraciones similares de ácido linoleico conjugado c9 t11 en la grasa de la leche.</p>
<p>Los sistemas ganaderos de trópico seco presentan una disminución drástica en la producción de leche durante la época seca, la cual puede ser mitigada mediante la inclusión de leguminosas como abonos verdes en cultivos forrajeros para ensilaje y como heno para alimentación de vacas. Se realizaron dos experimentos para evaluar: 1) la contribución de leguminosas a la producción de leche en vacas suplementadas con Canavalia brasiliensis henificada y 2) el efecto de la remoción de leguminosa (5 niveles entre 0-100 %) sobre la producción de maíz como forraje. Se observó relación directa entre el nivel de remoción de biomasa de leguminosa y la disminución del rendimiento de maíz (r = 0,85). Cuando los niveles de remoción de C. brasiliensis fueron inferiores al 50 %, el rendimiento de forraje de maíz no se afectó (11.283 kg MS ha-1) frente al tratamiento de no remoción (12.601 kg MS ha-1) (p > 0,05). Al momento de la cosecha del maíz, el nitrógeno total disminuyó (9-10 %); el NO3 varió entre 8 y 26 mg/kg, con menores contenidos en los niveles de remoción de 75 % y 100 %; y el C orgánico aumentó 15 % con la remoción de 0 %, 25 % y 50 % de leguminosa. Con respecto al segundo experimento, se encontró que las vacas suplementadas con heno de C. brasiliensis, aumentaron en 17 % su producción de leche con suplementación de 1,5 % del PV/día. La calidad composicional de la leche no varió debido a los tratamientos de suplementación de heno de C. brasiliensis.</p>
