Mechanical ventilation is one of the most used medical procedures in intensive care units across the world. In clinical practice, it represents a high level of complexity, especially in both stages, the extubation and weaning protocols. In order to enhance medical and nursing student's training skills regarding those topics, an interactive application was developed to teach basic information for ventilator weaning. The application has two fully graphic modules, which provide theoretical information and a set of clinical cases of patients under spontaneous breathing tests. It also includes information about medical records and interactive panels for weaning criteria and patient clinical condition during the weaning trials. A usability testing was performed with 12 subjects to validate the application usability, where the level of satisfaction with them showed that the app provides a straightforward tool to interact with the critical concepts of ventilator weaning.
En la actualidad, la conexión a la internet de tecnologías de uso cotidiano (Internet de las cosas, IoT), ha surgido como una novedosa alternativa para diversas aplicaciones en áreas del conocimiento tales como ingeniería, ciencias de la computación, o telemedicina. Para poder implementar esta interconexión se requiere del uso de sistemas embebidos, sensores y el desarrollo de software, algunas veces específico para cada aplicación. Es así como, en el presente proyecto, se presenta el diseño de un prototipo Web portable para la adquisición de señales de forma remota. Se interconectaron el dispositivo Onion Omega 2, sensores de comunicación I2C y salidas analógicas, administrados desde una aplicación Web que incorpora el almacenamiento de los datos de forma relacional (MySQL). El prototipo final tiene la capacidad de obtener información de los diferentes sensores a través de una aplicación Web, a la cual se puede acceder remotamente desde cualquier dispositivo conectado a la red Wi-Fi del sistema embebido.
