Tití gris (Saguinus leucopus) es un primate endémico de Colombia, categorizado como vulnerable (VU) según la Unión Internacional para la Conservación de la Naturaleza (UICN). La especie posee hábitos omnívoros y se caracteriza por el consumo de frutos blandos e insectos. En esta nota, reportamos un evento de depredación de este primate sobre un polluelo de gallina americana o gallina kika, a partir de un registro fotográfico en el municipio de Victoria, Caldas, Colombia.
La alta diversidad biológica reportada en Colombia es soportada por la riqueza florística y faunística de la Región Andina, la cual reúne tanto ecosistemas estratégicos como a los más vulnerables a los impactos por fragmentación de hábitat. Para contrarrestar estos efectos, se proponen alternativas para el mantenimiento de dicha riqueza biótica a través de las áreas protegidas. No obstante, en dichas áreas, comúnmente, no existen estudios a largo plazo que den cuenta de la composición precisa de las especies y de sus fluctuaciones poblacionales entre otros aspectos ecológicos. Por tal motivo, se realizó una recopilación de los registros sobre los vertebrados terrestres presentes en la Reserva Forestal Protectora Bosques de la Central Hidroeléctrica de Caldas –CHEC– (Villamaría, Caldas, Colombia), entre 1996-2015, reportados en diferentes estudios y por diversas entidades con el objeto de dar a conocer su estado actual, visualizar vacíos de información y actualizar los listados taxonómicos de los diversos grupos faunísticos reportados. Se encontró que, para la zona, se han registrado 349 especies distribuidas en 75 familias y 33 órdenes. En mamíferos se han reportado 82 especies, 25 familias y 12 órdenes; para aves 227 especies, 43 familias y 18 órdenes; en herpetofauna, 35 especies de anuros pertenecientes a 4 familias y 1 orden y 5 especies de reptiles pertenecientes a 3 familias y 2 órdenes. Se sugiere mantener estudios de mediano y largo plazo para verificar la información recopilada, discriminar entre la fauna local y migratoria, así como detectar los impactos potenciales de la implementación del Proyecto Geotérmico del Valle de Nereidas. Esto permitirá resaltar la importancia de las áreas privadas protegidas en la conservación de la biodiversidad.
En Colombia, la ciencia ciudadana ha tomado fuerza en los últimos años como una estrategia para involucrar a las comunidades en procesos de investigación participativa, lo que ha permitido generar conocimiento y sensibilidad ante diversos procesos socioambientales que afectan significativamente los ecosistemas y las especies que habitan en ellos. Este trabajo busca involucrar a las comunidades asentadas en el Magdalena Medio, Alto y Oriente de Caldas, en un ejercicio de ciencia ciudadana denominado “I avistamiento de mariposas diurnas del Magdalena Medio y Oriente de Caldas”, de manera que pueda en un futuro cercano, ser parte de un proceso de apropiación social y del conocimiento perdurable en el tiempo. El enfoque de investigación fue cualitativo e inicialmente, se identificaron y convocaron las entidades públicas y privadas del sector educativo y ambiental de esta región del país, y luego se confirmó su asistencia a las diversas fases del proyecto (inscripción, capacitación y ejercicio investigativo). Se logró la participación de 105 personas pertenecientes a cuatro departamentos y nueve municipios; además, se registraron 80 especies de mariposas diurnas en hábitats urbanos, destacándose el reporte de Parides eurimedes (Papilionidae), una especie endémica de Colombia. La investigación, permitió ampliar los conocimientos entomológicos con estrategias innovadoras y promover un interés general en los participantes, los cuales estuvieron dispuestos a convertir este ejercicio participativo en una acción perdurable en el tiempo. Se espera que la presente investigación sea un aliciente para promover la ciencia ciudadana y la investigación participativa, así como un avance en el reconocimiento y conservación de las mariposas en ecosistemas verdes urbanos de la cuenca del río Magdalena.
Las mariposas diurnas son un grupo diverso y relativamente bien conocido en Colombia. Sin embargo, son pocos los estudios que evalúan su diversidad en los parques urbanos y periféricos, por lo tanto, se planteó esta investigación, con el fin de evaluar la riqueza y abundancia de mariposas diurnas presentes en áreas verdes urbanas del municipio de La Dorada, (Caldas). El estudio fue realizado en 4 parques urbanos de este municipio, entre los meses de julio y noviembre de 2020, con un esfuerzo de muestreo de 288 horas; las mariposas fueron recolectadas con jama y trampas Van Someren-Rydon cebadas con camarón licuado y banano en descomposición. Se colectaron 308 mariposas pertenecientes a 39 especies, siendo las más abundantes: Phoebis sennae, Phoebis argante y Ascia monuste. Los índices de Shannon y de equitatividad J, indican que el parque periférico de Guarinó es el que presenta una mayor diversidad y equitatividad, con un 87% de las especies reportadas, entre las que se destaca Parides eurimedes una especie endémica de Colombia. A su vez, la curva de acumulación de especies indica que la representatividad del muestreo estuvo el 85 y 81% respectivamente con base en los estimadores Chao 1 e ICE.
