The main purpose of traffic surveys is to know current state of transport and for design and solution of transport in the future. For collecting traffic data, traffic surveys are carried out which consist in counting the number of vehicles of different categories. There are many ways of collecting traffic data. This paper deals with manual counting and with automatic vehicle counter. Two traffic surveys were made and results from manual counting and automatic counting were compared. The aim is to find and describe advantages and disadvantages of selected types of traffic counting.
The transportation sector is a crucial sector of the sustainability of every national economy. Previous studies highlighted the core significance of transport enterprises in European countries over the past 60 years. The long-term sustainability of enterprises is determined by their ability to gain earnings. Thus, earnings are the synonym of significance in corporate life. The purpose of this study was to capture the lever year, the trend, and the slope of the development of earnings in the transport sector before the COVID-19 pandemic. Time series of the annual earnings of the enterprises from the close countries of the V4 region were used during a 10-year period. Buishand’s test sets the change-points of the development and indicated the values of specific central lines. The year 2013 was the lever date for the earnings of 830 Slovak and 1042 Hungarian enterprises. The year 2015 was the year of momentum for 757 Polish enterprises. The development of 397 Czech enterprises was mainly influenced by the year 2014. The results of the Mann–Kendall test detected a positive trend in the series of business finance in all countries. In addition, the Sen’s slope was estimated in the transport sector for the analyzed period 2010–2019.
Statistical surveys show that the majority of traffic accidents occur due to low visibility, highlighting the need to delve into innovative car lighting technologies. A car driver must not only be able to see but also to be seen. The issue of headlight illumination is vital, especially during the dark hours of the night. Therefore, the focus of this article is determining the range of visibility of dipped (low-beam) headlights under specific experimental conditions. We also designed a methodical guideline aimed at identifying the distance at which dipped headlights illuminate the road while a vehicle is in motion. Research conducted on various classes of road confirmed that the Hyundai i40 is best used on higher-class roads, while the Dacia Sandero is better used on lower-class roads due to the shape and spreading out of its light cone. Furthermore, the pros and cons of the distribution of light cones on several classes of road are presented. Sensor-related equipment was also used to investigate light beam afterglow. In particular, an LX-1108 light meter was applied to determine the obstacle illumination intensity, the properties of which enable recording of low lighting values, and a DJI Mavic AIR 2 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV; drone) was utilized to record the data related to the location of the examined vehicle, as well as light afterglow at night; relevant data evaluation was carried out using Inkscape software.
Nearly every town faces the traffic problem caused by the continuous increase of the traffic volume. Traffic collapses, congestions, accidents and a further negative impact on the environment are gradually becoming a common part of our lives. Junctions are the most critical points of the road network, which usually determine the capacity of the roads. Therefore, proper traffic organization at junctions is a necessity. This paper analyses the actuated control in comparison to the fixed control at a signal-controlled junction. It also includes a case study of one problematic junction in this paper. With the help of microscopic simulation in Aimsun, 2 solutions for this problematic junction were assessed, one of which is fixed control and other is actuated control. Actuated traffic control gives better results than fixed control.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
