Boutet Josiane, The reference to persons in spoken French : the case of "on".
French personnal pronouns have the property of refering to various persons. Those referential shifts have been described in rhetoric, historical and descriptive grammar. Recently, Laberge and Sankoff analyse the competition between "on" and "tu, vous" in oral French within the frame of variationist linguistics. We examine the fact that the principle of referential equivalence is applied to the syntax of pronouns and we raise arguments in favour of an enunciative representation of their functionning. We insist upon the importance of ambiguity, indecidability and indétermination in interpreting "on".
J. Boutet, B. Gardin, M. Lacoste
Authors present research in a new field : analysis of language at work. They place this research in the development of discourse analysis in France, they point out the specificity of this domain and organize these studies from three perspectives : lexical production at work, mixing of various semiotics, and mixing of
language and activity.
