En el siguiente proyecto de investigación, se indaga en el uso y posible aplicación de software especializado en la lectura y análisis de imágenes del cerebro obtenidas a partir de las diferentes tecnologías que se enfocan en el estudio y monitoreo de dicho órgano. Existen varios problemas que se pueden solventar mediante la implementación de esta tecnología en centros médicos; lugares como clínicas y hospitales. El sistema podría dar solución a la falta de personal especializado en la interpretación de las imágenes arrojadas por sistemas como lo serían la resonancia magnética y la tomografía (Tomadas al cerebro); es decir, este software podría suplir la falta de médicos especialistas en el área del cerebro y de personal capacitado para darle sentido a las radiografías, radiólogos. Dada la reducción en la necesidad de contratar personal capacitado, se crea la posibilidad de que, en lugares con menor solvencia económica, como podrían ser regiones en los departamentos del Amazonas y del Chocó, exista la manera de que en dichos lugares no se tenga que recurrir a terceros para obtener un diagnóstico conciso de la situación del paciente, reduciendo costos en transporte y nómina, al igual que una disminución notoria en tiempo de valoración. El proceso de identificación y caracterización realizado por el programa es corto y sencillo, pues consiste en obtener la imagen del proceso de análisis cerebral utilizado e introducirla al software, una vez cargada al sistema, el software arrojará el posible diagnóstico. El software funciona gracias a la herramienta de análisis de imágenes que aporta la plataforma MATLAB, el programa trabaja gracias al reconocimiento de patrones, de formas y de las escalas de colores dependiendo del tipo de radiografía. Cabe recalcar que a pesar de que el sistema arroje un posible diagnóstico, no se puede prescindir de una segunda opinión profesional.
