In several studies, knowledge is witnessed as one of the foundations of long-term competitive edge and is also a basic source of new product development (NDP) performance. The aim of this study is to investigate the role of knowledge management capabilities (KMC) in new product development performance with the mediating role of organizational agility. Additionally, this study also intends to examine the moderating role of business model innovation on the relationship of KMC with organizational agility. This study was conducted on the Chinese automobile sector, and the NPD project managers, supervisors, and engineers of the sector were respondents of this study. A survey questionnaire was used to collect the data from 201 respondents, and data were analyzed using the Smart PLS 3 software. The findings of this research, although limited to the automobile industries, indicate that knowledge sharing and knowledge application have significant and positive effects on the development of new products. Organizational agility significantly mediates the relationship of KMC with NPD. The results found that business model innovation has a significant moderating role in the relationship between KMC and organizational agility. Moreover, the results of this study will assist the managers in developing a modern competitive business environment by implicating KMC in the process of NPD. Lastly, organizations may improve the sustainability of their product and their overall performance by using organizational agility and modern ways of value delivery.
Part 7: Genetic AlgorithmsInternational audienceOur paper presents a new method for solving the rectangle piece jigsaw puzzle problem. The puzzle image is RGB full color and because of uniform shape of the individual pieces the process of puzzle assembly is based on information of the pixel values along the border line of the piece only. We have utilized a genetic algorithm that searches for the optimal piece arrangement using dissimilarity between adjacent pieces as the measure of progress. Unlike the previous attempts to utilize genetic algorithms to solve the problem, we have proposed a new heuristic asexual operator that aims at identification of points of fraction within partially assembled picture, extraction of supposed sequence of correctly joint pieces, and its insertion into a new position in such a way that, if possible, the segment is enlarged. Our approach has been successfully tested and the algorithm is capable of solving puzzles consisting of several hundred pieces
The results of a survey large Czech manufacturing companies are presented which shows the current levels of investment in advanced manufacturing technology (AMT), the techniques and criteria used to assess AMT capital projects, and attitudes to the need for further investment. Comparisons are made with the results of earlier identical surveys in the UK and the USA. The comparisons reveal numerous statistically significant differences. The current levels of AMT investment in the Czech Republic are relatively low, the techniques used for evaluation relatively unsophisticated, the investment criteria used are more short term, and there is less concern about the need for AMT.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
