García, J.V., Yuste, J.L., García, J.J., & Hellín, M. (2015). Body mass changes and ad libitum fluid replacement in elite futsal players during official compe-tition. J. Hum. Sport Exerc., 10(4), pp.891-903. The aim of this study was to calculate sweat loss, voluntary fluid replacement and levels of dehydra-tion in elite futsal players during official competition. Measurements were made in 12 male elite futsal players during six official matches in the Spanish First Division (22-26 ºC and relative humidity 32-42.33%). Participants were weighed before the warm up and they reweighed immediately after the games. Sweat loss was assessed through changes in body mass after taking into account fluid intake and urine loss. To analyze this data the statistics used were descriptive and non parametric. Mean sweat loss of players amounted to 2.29 litres (s = 0.73). Mean fluid intake was 1.5 litres (s = 0.74), re-placing 68.37% (s = 32.44) of total fluid loss. Players incurred a body mass deficit of 1.04% (s = 1.06), which is not seen as affecting their performance. There were no significant difference in sweat lost replaced and dehydration in relation to analyzed match (P > 0.05). There is a correlation between game time and body mass loss (r = 0.323, P = 0.016). From the results, we conclude that the level of hydra-tion in studied players can be seen to maintain itself through a correct level of fluid intake. However, these measurements allow an individualisation of player hydration strategies, not taking exclusively into account game time.
Abstract. Explosive strength of the lower segments plays an important role in karatekas. For its measurement, the Abalakov jump (ABK) and the counter-motion jump or Countermovement Jump (CMJ) are the most accepted test in research. The objective of this research work was to describe and analyze the results in CMJ and ABK tests of 28 Spanish youth category karatekas (15 boys and 13 girls), aged between 12 and 13 years, all of them participating in the final phase of the Spanish Karate Championship. Results were compared by gender using the Student's T test, as well as ANOVA was performed to assess the relationship between BMI and results in the jump tests. The Spearman Rho test was used to evaluate the correlation between training hours and explosive strength values. The values of weekly training hours are higher in girls (training hours = 10.46 ± 3.04) compared to boys (training hours = 6.16 ± 3.19). Boys have higher average values in CMJ jump results (boys 0.31 ± 0.57; girls 0.28 ± 0.03) and ABK (boys 0.35 ± 0.06; girls 0.33 ± 0.06). There are no significant differences in CMJ and ABK jump data by gender of the karatekas.
Physical education has the potential to improve the character of students. The purpose of this study was to develop a four-goal soccer game in instilling independent character education for upper-class elementary school (SD) students. This research is research and development which consists of two stages, namely the pre-development stage and the development stage. The pre-development stage consists of a literature review, relevant research studies, and field studies. The development stage consists of preparing a draft model, expert validation, limited trials, and extensive trials. The validation involved 2 experts (1 expert on football materials and 1 expert on physical education facilities and infrastructure). A limited scale trial was conducted on 16 grade V students and 1 elementary school Physical Education teacher. The wide-scale trial was conducted on 40 students representing four classes of students in grades V and VI of SD Negeri Tegalrejo I Yogyakarta. The instrument used to collect data is an observation sheet to assess student independence. Data analysis at the pre-development and development stages used quantitative description analysis techniques. The results achieved in this study were a product, namely a four-goal soccer game guide complete with rules of the game and DVD recordings of playing four-goal soccer in self-reliance character education for students in upper grade elementary schools who can instill independence.
