El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo determinar las zonas con potencial aptitud agrícola en la cuenca media del río Luján, Argentina. Para lograr el objetivo propuesto se llevó a cabo un análisis de evaluación multicriterio (EMC) apoyado en el uso de Sistemas de Información Geográfica (SIG). A partir del tratamiento de datos geoespaciales con métodos de EMC se logró integrar una serie capas temáticas en formato raster que dan cuenta de factores y restricción de carácter agronómico, socioeconómico y ambiental. Como resultado principal se obtuvo un mapa síntesis con la zonificación del uso potencial agrícola representado en cinco clases de aptitud (Muy apta, Apta, Moderadamente apta, Marginalmente apta y No apta). Los resultados constituyen un aporte de los estudios geográficos para soportar la toma de decisiones y conducir las acciones en el territorio de acuerdo con su aptitud potencial, permitiendo alcanzar el mayor equilibrio entre los factores ambientales, económicos y sociales.
