Esta obra representa una propuesta para reflexionar sobre las formas en que se llevan a cabo las prácticas sociales con las personas que envejecen. Desde la mirada de las Epistemologías del Sur, se problematiza sobre quiénes son las personas que envejecen, pero también quienes investigamos o intervenimos con ellas desde distintos lugares. Con el objetivo de obtener una visión más amplia sobre la complejidad del envejecimiento y la vejez, el texto incorpora categorías que, en su conjunto, posibilitan replantear las formas en las que construimos el conocimiento y las prácticas para las personas mayores. Los derechos humanos, la interculturalidad, el género, la educación, la salud, la transdisciplina y la Gerontología Comunitaria constituyen perspectivas y categorías que abonan a la descolonización de las práctivas en envejecimiento, así como a la reflexión y a la construcción de 'otras' estrategias para construir un diálogo entre el Norte y el Sur epistemológico para reconocer la diversidad de 'vejeces'.
