ResumoEste estudo teve como principal objetivo identificar as implicações das mudanças climáticas e do aquecimento global na gestão estratégica de empresas do setor siderúrgico de Minas Gerais, buscando compreender como tais questões são percebidas pelos seus dirigentes. Embora o assunto ainda provoque polêmicas, a divulgação do quarto Relatório do IPCC (Painel Intergovernamental sobre Mudanças Climáticas), no primeiro semestre de 2007, reduziu muitas incertezas e expandiu o debate, que ganhou espaço nos setores governamentais e empresariais. Foi realizada uma pesquisa de natureza exploratória, com abordagem qualitativa, que teve como instrumento de coleta de dados a entrevista semiestruturada, realizada em uma perspectiva fenomenológica. A análise dos dados foi feita utilizando-se a análise do discurso, também em uma perspectiva fenomenológica. A análise do discurso das entrevistas mostrou que as mudanças climáticas e o aquecimento global têm implicações na gestão estratégica das empresas pesquisadas. As principais implicações referem-se ao fortalecimento dos argumentos e das justificativas para a realização de mudanças em processos que se relacionem ao meio ambiente e às mudanças climáticas. A busca da autossuficiência em carvão vegetal, obtido por meio do reflorestamento, foi o tema que se destacou.Palavras-chave: mudanças climáticas; aquecimento global; gestão estratégica; siderurgia.Artigo submetido em abril de 2009 e aceito para publicação em março de 2010.
