There seems to be some uniformity in the main diagnostic criteria applied, with differences observed in clinical prerequisites, neurological exams, observation time, instrumental tests and the clinical decisions made following a declaration of BD. It is recommended that diagnostic criteria be standardized.
I present in this paper the new identities that are forming among teacher students as a result of the changes that are taking place in the social, cultural, political and economic spheres. I start from research results that Procie group is conducting about the professional identity of teacher students in the University of Malaga. The research studies the stories of the school experience of freshmen and analyses what are the characteristics of this experience. Four axes are taking into account: the idealization of the figure of the teacher, the focus on tasks and routines, the core place of assessment and the emphasis on order and discipline in the classroom. From this experience, I deal what I call " Sedimental knowledge." This would be the knowledge about the teaching profession that is built by students at school because of their experience and it constitutes the sediment of professional knowledge. This will be a fundamental part in the building of their identity. On the other hand, takes into account the "neoliberal moral" working in the schools, being an important brick in the construction of a new identity, characterized by practical thinking, activism and short-termism. This represents a significant change from the Redemptorist identity proper from earlier times. Keywords: Identity, Teaching, School Experience, Professional Knowledge.
Para citar este artículo / To cite this article / Pour citer cet article / Para citar este artigo AbstractThis reflective paper stems from the research entitled "The Construction of the Professional Identity of Elementary School Students". I intend to review the way in which narrative research is contributing to the construction of teaching practice, based on the review of the school narrative that teaching professionals are producing in the context of neoliberal moral. The paper highlights how the contingent and historical character of the construction of reality, through the story we make out of it, questions the dominant neoliberal ideology in training and teaching practice. Transference to practiceThis work has a particular impact in the reconfiguration of the ways teachers are being educated nowadays. It tries to redirect the neoliberal moral that underlies the current practice, through the construction of another school narrative of a new training model. In a context of strong reforms in both the university and school systems, I understand that it is essential to render visible the ideology present in these proposals. For the school, narrative of participants represents a prime opportunity that enables a critical practice and a reflective training.
The objective of the Latin American Network/Council of Donation and Transplant is to develop cooperation among its member states in all aspects related to donation and transplant of organs, tissue and cells. Given that diagnosing brain death (BD) is one of the key issues for the procurement of organs for transplant, the Network/Council seeks to contribute to defining the accepted concept of BD and its diagnosis and to disseminate this information among healthcare workers. In this report, we present the general guidelines on brain death and recommendations for clinical decisions after its diagnosis established and approved by the Latin American Network/Council of Donation and Transplant at its sixth meeting held in La Havana, Cuba, in May 2008. Although there are legal differences and variations in the diagnostic criteria used to define BD among its member states, brain death is accepted as the death of an individual for all legal, ethical and scientific effects. The diagnosis of BD should be independent of the decision of whether to donor or not donate organs for transplant. Once a diagnosis of BD has been confirmed, the possibility of organ donation should always be considered and the appropriate organ maintenance measures initiated. If organ donation is contraindicated, all support measures should be withdrawn including mechanical respiration. The decision to withdraw all support measures is consistent with the clinical-legal diagnosis and supported by several scientific and bioethics societies.
