Resumo: A geração total dos resíduos sólidos urbanos (RSU) no Brasil vem aumentando com o passar dos anos. A mesma tendência se observa para os aeroportos, que podem ter sua geração comparada com pequenas cidades. Objetivou-se com este capítulo relatar as soluções propostas e implementadas para o gerenciamento dos resíduos sólidos gerados no Aeroporto de Londrina. Trata-se de um aeroporto doméstico, sendo o terceiro maior do estado do Paraná e o quarto da Região Sul do Brasil. Estima-se que a circulação de usuários e passageiros seja de 2770 pessoas por dia. O adequado gerenciamento dos resíduos sólidos foi possível após a aplicação de diversas estratégias de educação ambiental, como palestras sobre a geração dos RSU, sinalização de lixeiras em toda a área portuária e monitoramento dos pontos de geração de resíduos. Os resíduos recicláveis são direcionados para uma Cooperativa de catadores de Londrina; os rejeitos para aterro sanitário de uma empresa terceirizada e os resíduos orgânicos para tratamento via compostagem e vermicompostagem no próprio aeroporto. A conscientização e a educação ambiental no Aeroporto de Londrina foram importantes para minimizar a quantidade de resíduos que são direcionados para o aterro sanitário. Esse trabalho de sensibilização e orientação deve ser de caráter contínuo e permanente e o modelo de gerenciamento adotado pelo Aeroporto de Londrina pode ser replicado para outros aeroportos.
