Se estimó la diversidad y fluctuación anual de cerambícidos asociados al borde e interior de una selva tropical. La captura de insectos se realizó con trampas de intercepción cebadas con alcohol etílico y luz ultravioleta como atrayente. Se recolectaron 295 especímenes de tres subfamilias, pertenecientes a 56 especies de 38 géneros. Lamiinae fue la subfamilia con mayor riqueza, con 40 especies distribuidas en 20 géneros, para Cerambycinae se recolectaron 14 especies de 12 géneros y para Parandrinae dos especies de un género. El género con mayor abundancia fue Leptostylus con ocho especies. Se identificaron seis especies como nuevos registros para México y 29 para Tabasco. En el borde de la selva se recolectaron 155 especímenes de dos subfamilias, pertenecientes a 37 especies de 26 géneros. En el interior se recolectaron 140 especímenes de tres subfamilias pertenecientes a 36 especies de 26 géneros. Se determinó que las comunidades comparten 17 especies. El mayor valor de diversidad verdadera se obtuvo en el borde con 15,96 y la menor en el interior con 12,69. Se determinó que los valores de Δ, Δ* y Δ+ implican una baja separación filogenética entre las especies de cerambícidos en ambas comunidades. La fluctuación temporal de la comunidad de cerambícidos presentó los máximos valores de abundancia en febrero, mayo y agosto, meses donde se registra una reducción en la precipitación. Finalmente, la curva de acumulación de especies aún no presenta una asíntota, por lo que se podría incrementar los nuevos registros
Se describe la diversidad, y por primera vez, la distribución vertical de insectos barrenadores (Scolytinae, Platypodinae y Bostrichidae) asociados al borde e interior de un manglar. Para determinar la diversidad en estos espacios, se capturaron insectos con trampas de intercepción cebadas con alcohol etílico al 70 % y mediante una luz ultravioleta como atrayente. Con la finalidad de analizar la distribución vertical, se colocaron trampas cebadas con alcohol etílico a 1,5 m, 6 m y 12 m de altura. De acuerdo con el índice de diversidad (1D) el borde fue 1,36 más diverso que el interior con 15,82 y 11,67 respectivamente. Las trampas utilizadas a 6 m capturaron la mayor diversidad tanto en el borde como en el interior, a pesar de que las trampas a 1,5 m capturaron la mayor abundancia. En el borde, diez de los doce meses presentaron diferencias significativas en su abundancia y para el interior estas diferencias se presentaron en ocho de los doce meses. En cuanto a la diversidad (1D), en el borde estas diferencias estadísticas se presentaron en abril, mayo, julio y agosto, mientras que en el interior en junio, noviembre y diciembre. Tales diferencias pueden estar relacionadas con la variabilidad en las condiciones ambientales del manglar, lo que produce cambios en la estructura y composición de las comunidades de insectos.
Con la finalidad de contar en Tabasco, México con aislamientos nativos de Beauveria bassiana con potencial de control de Hypothenemus hampei, 12 cepas se aislaron y caracterizaron según variables fisiológicas y patogénicas. El crecimiento micelial (CM), la velocidad de germinación y la producción de conidios (PdC) en agar-dextrosa de Sabouraud + 0,1% de extracto de levadura (ADS+EL), son las variables fisiológicas consideradas y evaluadas a 25, 30 y 35 °C. Además, se evaluó la PdC en arroz a 25 °C. Hubo diferencias (P < 0,001) en el CM de los aislamientos. La temperatura favorable para el CM fue de 25 a 30 °C. El tiempo requerido para la germinación del 50% de los conidios (TG50) varió de 12,6 a 15,9 h. El TG90 varió de 16,9 a 61,5 h. Los mejores TG50 y TG90 se obtuvieron a 25 y 30 °C. La temperatura óptima para la germinación fue 30 °C. Hubo diferencias (P < 0,001) en la PdC en medio ADS+EL, y la temperatura óptima para la PdC fue 25 °C. Así también, hubo diferencias (P < 0,001) en la PdC en arroz. La efectividad patogénica de los aislamientos de B. bassiana sobre H. hampei fue del 100% a las 144 h. El tiempo para matar el 50% de la población (TL50) varió de 71,8 a 104 h. Así también, el TL90 varió de 91,8 a 132,8 h. Las cepas nativas BbTcf9, BbTcf5 y BbTcf1, fueron seleccionadas para su evaluación en condiciones de campo.
Se comparó la diversidad de anfibios entre selva y vegetación secundaria, incorporando la distintividad taxonómica en los análisis de diversidad. Para el muestreo de los individuos se establecieron cuatro transectos de 200 m de largo en ambos ecosistemas. Los muestreos se realizaron una vez al mes, durante seis meses, con búsquedas diurnas y nocturnas. Se registraron un total de 424 individuos de nueve familias, pertenecientes a 19 especies de 14 géneros, y por primera vez se reporta Bolitoglossa veracrucis para el estado de Tabasco. En ambos ecosistemas se registró una riqueza de 14 especies, siendo la selva la que obtuvo la mayor abundancia con 269 individuos y la menor en vegetación secundaria con 155. El índice de diversidad verdadera de orden 1D y 2D, determinó que la vegetación secundaria (6.28 y 4.61) es más diversa que la selva (3.43 y 1.90), con una similitud de especies del 64%. El índice de diversidad taxonómica (Δ) y el índice distintividad taxonómica (Δ*), mostraron los mayores valores en vegetación secundaria (Δ=2.36, Δ*=2.99) y los menores en selva (Δ=1.07, Δ*=2.42). Sin embargo, el índice de distintividad taxonómica promedio (Δ+), mostró valores similares entre los ecosistemas. La incorporación de la distintividad taxonómica en los estudios de diversidad permite evaluar más allá del número de especies, tomando en cuenta las distancias y relaciones taxonómicas, las cuales podrían ser un reflejo de la diversidad funcional de una comunidad.
