Abstract ln this paper we analyze the main anomalies of spring and summer precipitation in the south of the province of Alicante (SE of Spain), reconstructed using dendroclimatological techniques. We have identified an alternation of dry periods (1598-1651, 1671-1687 and 1764-1781) and humid (1650-1670 and 1688-1739) of different duration and intensity. ln the 19th century the rainfall anomalies are shorter, although of similar intensity. Keywords: Dendroclimatology, rainfall anomalies, 16th-19th centuries, Little Ice Age, Alicante, Spain.
A detailed study of ten chronologies elaborated from tree-rings of Pinus nigra subsp. salzmanii (Dunal) Franco and Pinus sylvestris L. from the Spanish Sistema Central and Serranía de Cuenca is presented. The results have permitted the analysis of the oldest tree-rings in these areas, with longevity over 450 years. From the statistical values used we can conclude that five chronologies are adecuated samples of forest population; whereas four of them have a high common signal
Abstract: With the dendroclimatic series of precipitation in Pallaruelo de Monegros weather station (placed in the mid-eastern sector of the Ebro Basin), we study the dry and humid periods between years 1465 and 1989, analysin its frequency, duration and intensity. The characteriiation of the years accor%ing to its total precipitation has allowed us to see as most remarkable facts the almost total lack of sequences of normal years and the exceptional behaviour of the precipitation in XXth century.Key Words: Dendroclimatology, Ebro valley, drought, rainfall variability.
