Uno de los aspectos más importantes en el desarrollo de los seres humanos es el cuidado en la salud y bienestar desde la infancia. La salud bucal en este período es importante, por lo que las visitas al odontólogo o la aplicación de mecanismos de información pueden permitir tener una buena higiene bucal. El objetivo general de esta investigación es evaluar la efectividad del programa educativo para el cuidado de la salud bucal en los niños de educación de primaria de la Escuela “Aurora Estrada” del Recinto Tres Postes durante el periodo 2018-2019. La metodología empleada para tal fin abarca la investigación corresponde al enfoque cuantitativo. Los resultados se basaron en la salud bucal del Ecuador y los resultados de la encuesta realizada a los niños de la escuela. Como conclusión se tiene que los conocimientos y el índice de higiene son altos debido a que los escolares conocen el uso de los artículos de limpieza dental y la frecuencia en que deben hacer su cuidado bucal, así como de tener conocimientos para percibir que una falta de estos puede ocasionar problemas psicosociales en su entorno, demostrando así la efectividad del programa educativo.
En los últimos años, diversas investigaciones y estudios epidemiológicos han vinculado específicamente la periodontitis con el desarrollo y progresión de otras enfermedades, entre ellas diabetes mellitus. Aún y cuando el diagnóstico y las clínicas son imprecisos sobre la relación entre estas infecciones, propias de los tejidos dentales y periodontales, con otros órganos o sistemas del cuerpo humano. Dichas infecciones son causadas por los lipopolisacáridos, citoquinas pro-inflamatorias y las bacterias gramnegativas viables del biofilm, ya que a través del torrente sanguíneo influyen en enfermedades periodontales. Es el objeto de este estudio identificar en pacientes con diabetes los factores que influyen asociados a las enfermedades periodontales, a través del estudio cuanticualitativo en pacientes diabéticos atendidos en el centro de salud Medicaldent periodo 2019. Los hallazgos nos indican algunos factores como el consumo de carbohidratos, cigarrillo e incluso azúcar, el no control exhaustivo de la dieta, y de insulina; así como evidencias de carencia en información y educación de la higiene bucal requerido, y el estado anímico, así como gran desconocimiento de la propensión que tiene pacientes diabéticos a enfermedades periodontales. La atención y desarrollo preventivo es un asunto de salud pública que debe atenderse con campañas nacionales para revertir índices de morbilidad asociados.
La caries dental es una enfermedad crónica, compleja, dinámica, infecciosa y de origen multifactorial La falta de topicaciones de flúor establece altos índices del número de piezas dentales cariadas en niños de 6 a 12 años, se presume el mal uso de los implementos de higiene bucal como causa del aumentado índice de placa bacteriana, calculo dental y gingivitis en esta población. La presente investigación de carácter descriptivo y transversal, tipo de investigación mixta sobre aspectos epidemiológicos de las caries. La población y muestra estuvo conformada por 15 niños (100%) que acudieron a la consulta odontológica del centro de salud Medicaldent I semestre 2019, con dentición mixta de la unidad de salud MEDICALDENT Guayaquil, ahonda en la influencia del Higiene bucal en las enfermedades buco dentales. Los hallazgos dan muestra de elevada prevalencia de dientes permanentes cariados (73%) con un índice del promedio de dientes cariados, perdidos, obturados (CPOD) de 1,78. El análisis cualitativo nos proporciono que la causa principal se origina por la Higiene bucal, desconocimiento, estilos de alimentación no propicios, bajos ingresos económicos, dieta cariogénica, deficiente higiene bucal y antecedentes de caries dental. Se concluye que la alta incidencia de caries dental puede reducirse si modificamos a través de su prevención desde la concepción del niño.
