Tan sólo en dos momentos históricos el cine y la revolución han asumido una simbiosis que les ha hecho ir de la mano en una evolución conjunta. El primero de esos momentos es bien conocido: la revolución rusa y la vanguardia cinematográfica soviética. El otro momento histórico bebe, sin duda, del anterior, pero es casi desconocido y responde a la independencia de Mozambique y al nacimiento de la nación, que supuso también el nacimiento del cine mozambiqueño como instrumento de educación y propaganda ideológica inseparable de la propia evolución del país. Lo que aquí interesa es analizar el devenir de esa revolución cinematográfica e histórica, que termina en las filmografías de dos cineastas unidos a la historia del cine mozambiqueño: Licinio Azevedo y Margarida Cardoso. Protagonista Azevedo y testigo privilegiado Cardoso de la evolución del cine de Mozambique, y de su transición del documental a la ficción, ambos presentan filmografías apasionantes sobre una revolución cinematográfica e histórica que merece ser recordada. Caminos cruzados que hablan de revolución, memoria, fracaso y ausencia, mediante la construcción de universos personales entreverados con la propia historia social y política de Mozambique.
En el presente panorama audiovisual marcado por una ingente oferta de contenidos audiovisuales, tanto en la televisión convencional como en las opciones multiplataforma, resulta cuanto menos complicado encontrar un formato audiovisual atractivo y comprensible que comunique ciencia. Ahora bien, ¿cuál es la fórmula idónea de comunicar la ciencia? ¿qué solución nos propone el escenario audiovisual actual tan exigente en términos de entretenimiento y audiencia? Y, por último ¿cómo encajamos el lenguaje científico entre el gran público? Nuestra propuesta para alcanzar el objetivo de lograr una eficaz comunicación de la ciencia, sin sacrificar por el camino el rigor de la misma, sería el empleo del documental científico y su capacidad multifuncional; un formato audiovisual híbrido con la capacidad de asumir de forma simultánea una narrativa pedagógica, informativa y de entretenimiento.
El vacío y el ruído (o lo abigarrado) son dos antónimos que se dan la mano en la filmografía de Huo Hsiahsien. Taiwanés perteneciente a la «Nueva ola» del cine de su país, su obra será una mirada formalista a la realidad de su patria desde la distancia que imponen sus lejanos encuadres, manteniendo, en muchas ocasiones, un punto de vista único. Retratista del pasado, Hsiao-Hsien se lanzará a partir de 2001 a reflexionar sobre el presente, con tres películas que conforman una trilogía informal sobre la juventud y su encaje en la sociedad actual. Una reflexión que se vuelve espacial y que desarrolla un lenguaje, unido a la postmodernidad, que va a generar un discurso a través de la relación de los sujetos y sus cuerpos con el campo visible e invisible del encuadre. Heredero de la tradición iconográfica china, de su pintura y su modo de representación, el vacío para Hsiao-Hsien será un elemento lleno de sentido que invitará a compartir al espectador, ofreciéndole un espacio para introducir su propia reflexión. Un vacío físico y espiritual que establecerá, a su vez, una dialéctica con el ruido y lo abigarrado de la sociedad actual, generando una tensión creativa que se transmite en cómo los cuerpos habitan, o no, el espacio cinematográfico vehículo de su discurso.
Presentación del número monográfico centrado en la divulgación científica audiovisual, en el que se hace un recorrido por las diferentes aportaciones realizadas en torno a los orígenes de la divulgación científica en el cine, a las obras de ficción centradas en científicos, los programas divulgativos de televisión, la utilización de videojuegos como canal de difusión, la perspectiva de género y la intersección entre creación artística y ciencia, los formatos de internet, como las webseries científicas, o los canales institucionales de divulgación.
El artículo se centra en la última etapa del cine del director franco-griego Costa-Gavras, referente principal del cine político contemporáneo, en la que aborda las fracturas de una Europa posmoderna desde múltiples ángulos. Gavras traza un recorrido que va desde los estragos del desempleo y de la competencia empresarial en Arcadia (Le couperet, 2005), la realidad de la inmigración ilegal en Edén al Oeste (Éden à l’Ouest, 2009), el funcionamiento especulativo de la economía en El capital (Le capital, 2012), y el engranaje institucional de la Unión Europea en Comportarse como adultos (Adults in the Room, 2019). El texto se centra en analizar como este grupo de filmes ofrecen, a partir de su construcción narrativa y discursiva, una visión de la deriva europea contemporánea en un sentido dual, entre realidad y utopía, a partir de un tono de realismo mágico, que se convierte en la metáfora de la de la crisis de valores de la Unión Europea.
