En este artículo se presentan los principales resultados de la tesis de Maestría en Geografía desarrollada en la Universidad de Chile titulada Segregación residencial e inequidad en el acceso a servicios colectivos de educación, recreación y cultura en Bogotá-Colombia. Se problematiza con respecto de los factores que inciden en la segregación socioespacial de la población y los efectos en la accesibilidad a los equipamientos de servicios urbanos. A partir de un análisis territorial y estadístico, se muestra cómo las características del modelo urbano de Bogotá han tenido como consecuencia la estrecha correlación entre los patrones espaciales de alta segregación socioeconómica con baja calidad de vida. Esta segregación refuerza las condiciones negativas de población de escasos recursos, producto de la inequidad en la accesibilidad a servicios colectivos, principalmente de educación, cultura y recreación, espacios teóricamente reconocidos por la producción de capital social y, por ende, de integración social.Ideas destacadas: artículo de investigación que describe cómo en Bogotá se presenta una alta segregación socioespacial de la población con condiciones de vida bajas y cómo esta se correlaciona con una baja accesibilidad a los equipamientos de servicios urbanos de ciudad, lo cual refuerza sus condiciones negativas.
Durante el quinquenio 1997-2002, las migraciones residenciales entre las ciudades chilenas mayores de 50.000 habitantes mantuvieron la intensidad que tenían diez años antes frente al descenso de este tipo de movilidad que, en el mismo período, se registró entre las ciudades de tamaño inferior a este umbral. En la literatura geográfica, relativa a ecologia social intraurbana, son reconocidas las "dimensiones latentes que estructuran el espacio de las grandes ciudades. En efecto, numerosos estudios han llegado a establecer que el status socioeconómico, el familiar y el étnico, son los factores que dan cuenta de las diferencias socioespaciales de la población al interior de las urbes. En el presenteestudio efectuado a un nivel de resolucion distrital, se analizan los cambios socio-espaciales ocurridos en el Gran Santiago, en un período de 22 años, que va del censo de población de 1970 al del año 1992. Los resultados muestran una profundización del espacio social intraurbano, proceso que ha conducido a la conformación de una ciudad fuertemente segregada, no sostenible socialmente yque en nada difiere de los patrones socioecológicos identificados en ciudades de carácter metropolitano de Latinoamerica.
