Polémica epistolar –vía correo electrónico- entre dos amigos de juventud que luego tomarían visiones políticas distintas. El detonante, una nota periodística sobre el progresismo de los Kirchner, derivará luego en diversas valoraciones del presente y del pasado, con eje en el peronismo.Así, los autores buscan en sus propias experiencias juveniles y en el conocimiento de la historia del país, a partir de la segunda mitad del siglo pasado, las razones para fundamentar sus actitudes de vida y sus ideas políticas actuales, disintiendo claramente en la caracterización de Perón, del justicialismo y del gobierno de los Kirchner. También, en la valoración de algunos medios de prensa, periodistas de actualidad y ensayistas políticos. Sobre esta estructura temática y para fundamentar sus puntos de vista, los autores relatan experiencias familiares, personales y de vida, que constituyen, en definitiva, el sustrato de sus posturas ideológicas. En la polémica se suma, desde México, un exiliado de la misma generación de los autores y un joven veinteañero, quienes aportan su visión sobre el tema central de “kirchnerismo-antikirchnerismo”.
Este artículo repasa el desarrollo de América Latina y el Caribe de los últimos 70 años a partir de la experiencia y propuestas que ha hecho la Comisión Económica para América Latina y el Caribe (CEPAL). Se analiza la relación centro periferia y la propuesta de industrialización por sustitución de importaciones, la crisis de esta propuesta y el subsiguiente modelo basado en el regionalismo abierto. La crisis de 2008 parece un punto de inflexión a la apertura comercial como modelo de desarrollo y se abre un periodo de búsqueda con énfasis en la sostenibilidad y la igualdad.
