Introdução: segundo dados da Organização Mundial de Saúde, adolescentes de 15 a 19 anos tornam-se mães de cerca de 15 milhões de crianças, anualmente. No ano de 1996, a Pesquisa Nacional de Demografia e Saúde mostrou que 18% das adolescentes brasileiras entre 15 e 19 anos já tinham pelo menos um filho ou estavam grávidas. Objetivo: traçar o perfil sócio-econômico de adolescentes grávidas e puérperas em Belém do Pará, atendidas pelo Pré-Natal do Programa Saúde da Família-Mangueirão. Método: estudo transversal realizado através da aplicação de um protocolo que possuía informações referentes à realidade sócio-econômica e biológica das 53 adolescentes, faixa etária de 13 a 19 anos, sendo 17 grávidas e 36 puérperas, assistidas pelo Pré-Natal do PFS-Mangueirão, de janeiro a outubro de 2006. Todas as adolescentes foram entrevistadas após aprovação dos respectivos responsáveis ou por elas, se já alcançada a maior idade, por meio de um termo de consentimento livre e esclarecido. Os resultados obtidos foram submetidos a uma análise estatística descritiva e a uma inferencial. Resultados: das 53 adolescentes entrevistadas, 68% eram puérperas, 49% solteiras, 67,9 % não freqüentavam a escola, 64,15% com renda familiar menor que um salário mínimo, 91% não planejaram a gravidez, 64% tinham informações sobre métodos contraceptivos, 64,29% utilizavam o preservativo masculino, 59% não tinham acesso aos métodos anticoncepcionais, 85% contaram com o apoio familiar e 76% com o apoio do pai da criança. Conclusão: a maioria das entrevistadas era puérpera, solteira, não freqüentava a escola, com renda familiar menor que um salário mínimo, não planejou a gravidez, possuía informações sobre métodos contraceptivos, utilizava o preservativo masculino, não tinha acesso aos métodos anticoncepcionais, contou com o apoio familiar e do pai da criança.
