El objetivo de la investigación fue diseñar un sistema Box Behnken para optimizar el rendimiento de un pico sistema solar fotovoltaico en el Valle del Mantaro en condiciones de alta densidad poblacional. Para ello se ubicó el sistema en una zona de moderada densidad urbana de la ciudad de Huancayo, región Junín, en la región central del Perú con coordenadas 12°03'29,0"S 75°13'12,9"W. Las mediciones se realizaron en la temporada de verano regional. Las variables evaluadas para su optimización en el Diseño Box Behnken fueron: orientación, ángulo de inclinación del panel solar y la hora de exposición. Se modeló el comportamiento mediante la superficie de respuesta para variables únicas y combinadas, comparándose la variación en la diferencia de potencial (V). Los resultados mostraron que la variable de mayor significación para la variación de potencial fue el ángulo de inclinación, con un efecto estandarizado de 3,48 y 95% de significancia. Todos los residuos del diagrama factorial se encontraron dentro de +0,8 y -0,8, indicando que el procedimiento experimental aplicando el método Box Behnken no presentó valores atípicos. Se concluyó que es posible maximizar la diferencia de potencial de un sistema de captación solar en el Valle del Mantaro, en una zona de alta densidad urbana, priorizando el ángulo de incidencia de radiación.
