El artículo presenta el planteamiento teórico-metodológico y los resultados del modelamiento mediante autómatas finitos del cambio y la novedad cognitiva en la solución de problemas de proporcionalidad en dos resolutores que ejecutaron el software Uranus (versión 2), que explica la forma en que controlaron las variables en juego y solucionaron los problemas. El método utilizado corresponde a estudios de caso bajo un enfoque cualitativo microgenético de medidas repetidas, modelamiento mediante autómatas finitos determinísticos y entrevista semiestructurada. Los resultados evidencian el cambio y la novedad a partir del análisis de los diversos estados generados por la manipulación de las variables propias de los problemas de proporcionalidad presentados a los resolutores. Las transiciones de estado, la conformación de segmentos, y los trayectos y trayectorias resultantes, se caracterizan por ser procedimientos no lineales, que evidencian ascensos, descensos y equilibrios puntuados, en el contexto de una epigénesis probabilística.
El artículo expone el análisis de las representaciones de doce participantes respecto del cálculo operacional al manipular las variables de velocidad, tiempo y distancia y su relación, en la solución de un problema de proporcionalidad presentado por el Software URANUS v1 y tres tareas de control. Se utilizó el método microgenético para analizar los patrones de ejecución y entrevistas semiestructuradas para inferir por análisis de contenido de las verbalizaciones, las representaciones respectivas. Se ilustran tres casos, novato, intermedio y experto, quienes utilizaron diversos cálculos de adición, multiplicación y proporcionalidad y distintas relaciones entre variables, desde la ausencia de nexos, hasta concebirlas interrelacionadas respecto de la distancia. Cinco sujetos intermedios presentaron la representación tipo R3 de cálculos aditivos con relación entre las variables que produce efectos. Un experto reveló la representación tipo R5 de cálculo proporcional. En síntesis, la solución del problema exige complejas interacciones, sujeto, tarea y contexto social educativo.
Esta investigación caracteriza los trayectos y trayectorias que siguen 136 sujetos universitarios al solucionar un problema físico-matemático de proporcionalidad, planteado a través de un software interactivo, con el objetivo de analizar la variabilidad intra e inter sujeto, respecto del tipo de control de variables y co-variación utilizadas. Se evidenciaron cinco tipos de control de variables (a: No Control, b: Control Simple de dos intentos, c: Control Simple mayor a dos intentos, d: Control con Alternancia y, e: Cambio Controlado) y cuatro de co-variación (f: No co-variación, g: Co-variación Creciente, h: Co-variación Decreciente y i: Co-variación Mixta). Se utilizó el método microgenético con medidas cualitativas y cuantitativas. Los diversos trayectos y trayectorias atestiguan el cambio cognitivo en la solución del problema. Se concluye que existe significativa variabilidad en los procedimientos utilizados por la población, al igual que diferencias significativas respecto de trayectorias con control o co-variación consolidados comparadas con las que no lo tuvieron, igualmente entre los que presentaron trayectos con intermitencia y sin intermitencia.
