Obwohl das Konstrukt der Kundenbindung im Bereich der Marketingwissenschaften in den vergangenen Jahren bereits ausführlich untersucht worden ist, mangelt es bislang an praxisorientierten Ausarbeitungen, die sich mit der "negativen Ausprägung" der Kundenbindung, also der Wechselbereitschaft beschäftigen. Um dazu beizutragen, diese Forschungslücke zu schließen, untersuchen die Autoren des folgenden Beitrages -beispielhaft am deutschen Gasmarktdie zentralen Einflussgrößen, die auf die Wechselbereitschaft privater Endkunden in einem deregulierten Markt für Erdgas wirken. Zu diesem Zweck wird basierend auf den Ergebnissen einer empirischen Studie, die die Universität Hannover in Zusammenarbeit mit einem großen kommunalen Energieversorgungsunternehmen durchgeführt hat, ein Modell entwickelt, dass das Wirkungsgefüge zentraler Determinanten der Wechselbereitschaft im Kontext des Gasmarktes veranschaulicht. Aus den Untersuchungsergebnissen werden schließlich Implikationen für die Unternehmenspraxis sowie weiterer Forschungsbedarfe abgeleitet.
