El continuo desarrollo de las nuevas tecnologías; una política patrimonial focalizada en los lugares de memoria del exilio republicano español y el desarrollo de nuevas redes internacionales que promueven proyectos vinculados a la memoria colectiva en Europa; ha permitido que surjan nuevas experiencias colaborativas como el proyecto “In Between?”. Impulsado por la European Network Remembrance and Solidarity (ENRS) y dirigido a jóvenes estudiantes de toda Europa; una de las ediciones de este proyecto fue realizada en la frontera francoespañola. Distintos estudiantes de diferente nacionalidad compartieron una experiencia de investigación y recogida de datos de varios espacios memoriales y testimonios del exilio republicano español; una memoria que ha marcado para siempre diferentes municipios alrededor de la frontera; creando una identidad singular.
El texto reflexiona sobre tres ejes claves: la necesidad de considerar la memoria y sus espacios físicos y simbólicos como patrimonio colectivo en nuestros espacios de residencia; la necesidad y reto de transmitir y resinificar estos lugares como lugares de resistencia y como patrimonio transformador de valores actuales y contemporáneos; y la voluntad más actual de hacerlo de forma transnacional, comparada y en red. De ahí que el texto aborda una parte más reflexiva conceptual y teórica y otra parte habla de casos estudiados a modo de ejemplo sobre los debates y conflictos actuales que pueden ser modelos de trabajo y análisis. Conceptos como la memoria múltiple, las memorias nostálgicas, resistentes, incómodas e incluso conflictivas son tratados como conceptos, pero el autor los intenta vincular a casos prácticos a través de la interpretación, transmisión cultural y turística de la memoria. Metodologicamente el texto combina la reflexión teórica con los casos prácticos de análisis concretos de espacios de memoria.
En este artículo, el autor da por sentado que nos hallamos no sólo en un sistema económico mundial, sino en una única sociedad mundial, la cual genera disparidades cada vez más profundas entre los seres humanos y experimenta la contradicción entre un régimen mundial fuera de todo control democrático y con un extraordinario poder para defender los intereses económicos, políticos y culturales de un pequeño fragmento de la humanidad, y la pervivencia de un cierto debate y juego político democrático dentro de los estados-nación con cada vez menos poder para incidir en las cuestiones más virales (aire que se respira, comida, salud, educación, vestir) de los ciudadanos inscritos en sus fronteras.

"La tolerancia", como todos los mejores ideales, fácilmente se convierte en una especie de ideología que oculta el desinterés, la apatía e incluso el abierto rechazo de los otros. A partir de un planteamiento de inspiración zubiriana, en discusión con las tesis hermenéuticas, hoy dominantes en el campo filosófico, el autor pretende fundamentar filosóficamente una tolerancia crítica muy diferente de la tolerancia por la que abogan la mayoría de los discursos al uso.
