Com a perda da autoridade do médico como o principal possuidor de conhecimento sobre saúde, o profissional deve estar preparado para lidar de forma ética, para que não se depare com problemas morais e jurídicos no decorrer da profissão. Uma vez que, o paciente tem acesso a um mundo de informações que podem confrontar as orientações médicas. O objetivo deste trabalho foi analisar como os acadêmicos de medicina se sentem quando o assunto é a ética médica, se a carga horária é suficiente, qual método de ensino eles acreditam que os beneficiaria mais, e como cada grade curricular influencia na confiança do estudante. Resultados: O levantamento de dados apontou que muitos dos acadêmicos não se sentem confiantes com o conhecimento que adquiriram durante a graduação, eles apontaram que mais aulas práticas poderiam aumentar a segurança em como agir quando aparecerem questões éticas. Conclusão: Foi possível concluir com o estudo que grande parte dos discentes acredita não estar preparado para lidar com dilemas éticos, e que as aulas práticas fazem muita falta. Implementando essa modalidade de ensino, poderia ser desenvolvido um raciocínio mais completo sobre o tema, e os alunos uma maior convicção na hora de agir eticamente.
Com a necessidade de se entender a relação entre os seres humanos e as doenças, a epidemiologia surge como pilar essencial, capaz de contemplar questões nem sempre tão objetivas. Visto que quando se fala sobre ISTs e mulheres, um tabu muito grande se entrepõe, sobre questões que não remetem só a saúde, no seu conceito mais restritivo, mas a problemas sociais que interferem diretamente. O objetivo desse artigo foi buscar a compreensão da vulnerabilidade de determinados grupos de mulheres a essas infecções. A metodologia utilizada foi baseada na análise de dados coletados pelo sistema de informação de agravos de notificação (SINAN), no município de Cascavel/PR, sobre HIV/AIDS, sífilis e sífilis gestacional em mulheres, no intervalo de 2011 a 2020. Os resultados demonstram algumas mudanças no perfil epidemiológico, como o aumento de casos de ISTs em mulheres idosas, a criação de um padrão sobre alguns bairros que se repetem em todas as ISTs analisadas como mais incidentes e a criação de um panorama racial que leva em conta a forma de colonização e o número populacional de cada raça. A conclusão, portanto, é de que a partir de análises como essa, novos projetos de prevenção e promoção de saúde possam ser pensados abrangendo suas novas particulares.
Com o aumento progressivo do envelhecimento da população, doenças que ameaçam a continuidade da vida entram no cenário atual trazendo a necessidade de maiores discussões sobre cuidados paliativos, entendimento sobre o processo de morte e morrer, e questões de cunho emocional e espiritual por parte dos futuros profissionais, que precisarão desenvolver habilidades além das técnicas. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar qual o entendimento dos acadêmicos de medicina sobre cuidados paliativos, em relação a conceitos, condutas, humanização de atendimento e atuação interdisciplinar. Resultados: O levantamento dos dados mostrou que grande parte dos acadêmicos entende a atuação dos cuidados paliativos, contudo, ainda é possível perceber lacunas em relação a segurança e preparação para lidar com a morte e o morrer. Conclusão: Foi possível concluir com a pesquisa que apesar de conscientes sobre o tema, o assunto ainda é desafiador e exige uma maior abordagem dentro da graduação, voltada principalmente para a integração de conteúdos teóricos e práticos.
