El objeto de estudio de esta investigación fue analizar la aplicación de las metodologías activas como parte del desempeño docente en la modalidad e-learning, abordando a los estudiantes y profesores de la carrera de comunicación de la Universidad de Guayaquil, Ecuador en el año 2022. Se procuró determinar la frecuencia con la que son utilizadas estas metodologías en el proceso enseñanza aprendizaje, teniendo en cuenta la importancia de la flexibilidad y el autoaprendizaje en esta modalidad y proponer un manual de enseñanza con base en metodologías activas. Para el abordaje se estableció una muestra de estudiantes de tipo probabilístico que, después de la aplicación de la fórmula estadística de población finita, se estableció en una casuística de 148. Las categorías de análisis fueron definidas en este apartado, siendo las siguientes: aplicación de metodologías activas y el desempeño docente. Con relación a los resultados, se muestra que la percepción estudiantil respecto a los docentes se muestra de forma positiva, no obstante, y de forma paradójica, también los estudiantes señalaron en algunas ocasiones que “a veces” se fomentaba la producción intelectual del estudiante (lo que contradeciría un verdadero desarrollo de habilidades de autoaprendizaje). Se muestra, por un lado, que los estudiantes dicen considerar efectivas las estrategias docentes para el aprendizaje, pero esas estrategias no serían participativas, según lo analizado en el apartado. Mediante encuestas y entrevistas se pudo determinar la necesidad de mejorar procesos de enseñanza aprendizaje con el apoyo del enfoque de metodologías activas que beneficiará a su vez el fortalecimiento del desempeño docente en procesos educativos e-learning.
