Objetivo: analisar, a partir de uma revisão da literatura, a frequência de crianças contaminadas pelo novo coronavírus (COVID-19). Método: revisão sistemática de literatura, com buscas nas bases de dados da PubMed (n=1), Science Direct (n=5) e Google Scholar (n=6). Selecionaram-se 12 estudos de coorte e observacionais publicados em texto completo entre maio e junho de 2020. Resultados: verificou-se prevalência baixa de contaminação pelo SARS-CoV-2 entre as crianças, comparadas a adultos jovens e idosos. Predominam sintomas leves a moderados, com baixa necessidade de internação para cuidados intensivos. Conclusão: a frequência de infecção pelo novo coronavírus nas crianças é baixa.
