Gegenstand dieser Studie sind die Interessen von Unternehmen in der Sozialpolitik. Anhand zweier Fallstudien werden Interessenkonstellationen zwischen zwei ‚Fraktionen des Kapitals' im Bereich der betrieblichen Altersversorgung untersucht: Arbeitgeber einerseits und Finanzdienstleister andererseits. Es zeigt sich, dass Unternehmen als Akteure auf Arbeitsmärkten und als Teilnehmer auf Produktmärkten konkurrierende Interessen verfolgen. Die Ergebnisse widersprechen damit den Erwartungen der Machtressourcentheorie: Unternehmen treten nicht als interessenhomogener Block auf. Vielmehr zeigen sich in zentralen Fragen erhebliche-und im Zeitverlauf zunehmende-Differenzen zwischen Finanzdienstleistern und Arbeitgebern. Damit rückt der Artikel in Ergänzung der Analyse klassenübergreifender Allianzen (varieties of capitalism-Forschung) klasseninterne Konflikte auf Seiten des Kapitals in den Blickpunkt der Wohlfahrtsstaatsforschung.
