Presentar resultados del uso de angioplastia con balones simples o medicados sin stent en el salvamento de fístulas arteriovenosas internas (FAVI) disfuncionales. Metodología: Estudio observacional, retrospectivo en pacientes con disfunción de FAVI, sometidos a angioplastia con balón simple y medicado sin stent. Se registraron datos demográficos, comorbilidades, cambios en el diámetro de la vena pre y post angioplastia, flujo sanguíneo pre y post angioplastia, estenosis residual, tiempo de permeabilidad secundaria y tasa de disfunción. Resultados: De 25 pacientes sometidos a angioplastia de edad promedio 63 ± 10 años (52% masculinos), 24% presentaron trombosis, 76% estenosis. La estenosis residual media fue 12% a 6 meses, 15 fístulas se mantuvieron funcionales (60%) y 10 fístulas disfuncionaron (40%) (p = 0.030). Las complicaciones posoperatorias inmediatas fueron sangrado (8%) e infección del sitio quirúrgico (4%). Conclusiones: La angioplastia con balones simples o medicados permitió una recuperación significativa del volumen de flujo sanguíneo, facilitando la funcionalidad de la FAVI y se asocia con una baja frecuencia de complicaciones.
