The objectives of the research were to obtain correlation model between NDVI (Normalized Density Value Index) and Freshness Index, to examine the capability of Landsat-TM satellite to show opened green space in controlling the effect of heat island, to know the level of freshness in Ambon town, and to produce layout of opened green space of Ambon town in relation with the need of freshness of the communities. The result of the research showed that Landsat-TM satellite can be used to detect the green space area of the Ambon town. Based on the classification of NDVI through Landsat-TM satellite, the Ambon town has 899,9 hectares (3 %) of land without vegetation or scarcely vegetation, 1488,71 hectares (4 %) were low density of vegetation, 1495,34 hectares (4 %) were in middle density, and 32060, 58 hectares were in high density. NDVI had a positive correlation to the temperature and relative humidity which means that increasing of vegetation density decreased the temperature and increased the relative humidity of a certain area. Effect of the heat island to the Ambon town are identified 1267,93 hectares, and generally found in the central of town (District of Sirimau) and the new development area which followed the main road area.
Agroforestry is a land use system that aims to sustain or increase total yields sustainably. Community Forest Utilization Permit (IUPHKm) is a business permit granted to local community groups to utilize forests in protected forest areas and / or production forest areas. HKm management for the community in the Melinani sub-district was carried out based on the technical design of agroforestry made by BPSKL in the Maluku and Papua regions. The research objectives are: (1) Knowing the economic, social and cultural and ecological characteristics of the Melinani community in utilizing Hkm; (2) Determine strategies and priorities for developing agroforestry systems and (3) Analyze the factors that determine the effectiveness of farmers' work. Multiple regression analysis is used in this research. For the determination of agroforestry development strategies used SWOT analysis and priority setting that must be carried out using the QSPM method. The results of the regression analysis indicate that the level of education and distance from residence have an impact on the development of agroforestry. The SWOT analysis is in the quadrant I. This means that even though the management of agroforestry development is under threat, it can be used to exploit opportunities. The results of QSPM calculations are 4 alternative agrofoestry management strategies in HKm. The technical design of agroforestry is still focused on agriculture and plantation crops, not yet combined with forestry plants, so the strata of the plant have not been well formed.
Mangrove forests produce environmental services is a very important role for the community around it as well as the community outside of the mangrove forest, adanya forest management programs implemented by the Government of the mangrove in the preserve sustainable mangrove forests in the town of Sorong. This is evidenced by a factor of education and income are very berpegaruh towards the level of participation, so that the involvement of the respondent are very helpful in the conservation of mangrove forests. Based on the analysis of the Chi square obtained the results that count amounted to 36.43 X2 is greater than X2 table 28.29 at 0.01 significant degree it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and the Ha are received. This means there is a real relationship between the level of public participation by education level of the respondents. Participation rates based on income, obtained the results that count of 31.35 X2 is greater than X2 table 28.29 on significant value of 0.01 degrees degrees of freedom 16. It can be concluded that H0 is rejected and the Ha are received.
The Benefits of mangrove ecosystems are varied, it can be seen from the ecological aspect, economic , social and protection functions. Mangrove forests can be found along the coastal area of Sorong city, the density of the mangrove forests forest are variaed with the total mangrove area on site research 101 ha, current conditions shows that it is necessarily need a strategy in management mangrove, with the aim of priority strategies can analyze mangrove management. Then in the analysis using the method of comparison of the exponential (MPE), menjukan that the research results from the analysis of the stretegi mangrove management developments, of the factors that influence that is a major ecological 45.54%, and of the actor who portrays in the management of mangrove forests that is the Government amounting to 50.89%. So the priority strategy in the management of controlling management plan and a plan of action in the management of mangroves of 32.84%..
