É necessário assistir a gestante precocemente, prevenindo complicações. AbstractIn the world, half a million women die from complications of pregnancy, childbirth or the postpartum period. You must watch pregnant as early as possible, so that it will be possible to evaluate the maternal and fetal conditions, decreasing or preventing possible complications. To describe the quality indicator of prenatal assistance from the Regional Maternal Child Hospital in the city of Imperatriz-MA was carried out a cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach. It was observed that 66.91% of women began prenatal care until the 14th week of gestation and 38.35% performed a minimum of six visits. 100% of pregnant women blood typing, complete blood count, blood glucose, HIV testing, urine type 1 and ultrasonography were requested. It was also prescribed folic acid to 94.74% and 96.99% for ferrous sulfate. Only 64.66% received tetanus vaccine and only 21.80% received guidance during pregnancy. Proper prenatal care totaled 17.29%, 82.71% of the cases have been inadequate. It is important to adopt measures that allow the improvement of prenatal care with qualified staff, contributing to the reduction of maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality.
