Experiments with two odorants, acetic acid and propionic acid, have provided additional evidence that jnds are a constant fraction of the stimulus strength. A linear plot of the difference limens and stimulus intensities has yielded a K of 0.28 for olfactory discrimination in man. The treatment of data derived from tests above the 50% limen and the over-all concept of jnd discrimination are discussed.
This work investigated the immobilised lipase kinetics of esteri®cation of oleic acid and ethanol. The reaction was conducted under supercritical conditions (13 Â 10 6 Pa and 40°C) using carbon dioxide as solvent in a continuous packed bed (plug¯ow) reactor. Biocatalyst Lypozyme TM IM60, which is lipase from Rhizomucor miehei (EC.3.1.1.3), immobilised on Duolite (anionic exchange resin) was used as biocatalyst. Kinetically, with regard to oleic acid, the reaction was successfully modelled by the Michaelis±Menten mechanism. The reaction rate constants K m and V max were evaluated. Furthermore, it was found to undergo competitive inhibition by ethanol, and the inhibition constant K i was evaluated.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
