A time-resolved, laser flash photolysis study of the reaction of a variety of carbon-centered radicals with Tempo (2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-N-oxyl) at room temperature is reported. Some of the radicals examined and the corresponding measured rate constants (Mr's-') are CH3(CH2),CH2, 1.2 X lo9; (CH3)3C*, 7.6 X lo8; C6H5cH2, 4.9 X 10'; C6H&(CH3)2, 1.2 X 10' ; (C6H5)&CH3, 4.6 X 10'. Arrhenius parameters have also been determined for the n-nonyl and benzyl radicals.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
