The region in which the city of Salvador is located is subdivided into three main geologic domains: (i) the Recôncavo sedimentary basin, limited in the east by the Salvador Fault; (ii) the coastal plain, formed of tertiary and quaternary deposits shaped by climatic changes and sea level variations and (iii) the Salvador high, that represents one horst of crystalline high to medium grade lithotypes. Studies carried out by Barbosa et al (2005), in the Salvador High have shown a complex geologic history, with great diversity of high grade metamorphic lithotypes, poliphasically deformed and frequently cut by monzosienogranites and mafic dikes. The orthoderived metamorphic lithotypes represent the predominant lithologic association in Salvador. Petrographic studies has subdivided these lithotypes in tonalitic granulites (T1, T2), charnoenderbitic granulites (CHED1, CHED2, CHED3), monzocharnockitic granulites (MZCH) and quartz-monzodiorític granulites (QMZD1, QMZD2, QMZD3)....
