O objetivo deste estudo é investigar as propostas dissonantes de ensino e formação de meninas e jovens brasileiras, nas primeiras décadas do século XX, tendo como pressupostos teóricos metodológicos a História da Educação, a História das Mulheres e a análise de fontes documentais (revistas e jornais), e bibliográficas. Neste período, há um esforço do Estado brasileiro na estruturação, criação e implantação dos Grupos Escolares, nas capitais e principais cidades do interior, em cada uma das diferentes regiões e estados. Entretanto, apesar do aumento da oferta de vagas em instituições escolares públicas, voltadas para o ensino primário, associadas aos ditames da Pedagogia Moderna e do higienismo, as disciplinas ensinadas às meninas e jovens tinham como objetivo, prepara-las para funções vinculadas ao espaço doméstico, formando assim esposas dedicadas e mães zelosas. Neste mesmo contexto, percebemos a produção, circulação e apropriação de discursos e recomendações de formação, construídas no interior de associações feministas, com destaque, para ideias defendidas pelas intelectuais que integravam a Federação Brasileira do Progresso Feminino e a União Universitária Feminina que indicavam outras propostas curriculares e instituíam novos campos de atuação para meninas e jovens, oriundas de diversos grupos sociais, que se configuraram dissonantes do que era previsto e prescrito nas instituições públicas. A ampliação do acesso ao ensino superior associado à diversificação do mercado de trabalho, bem como, a possibilidade de realizar concursos públicos, aberta às mulheres após 1930, entre outros fatores, permitiram novas atribuições e atividades profissionais a serem conquistadas pelas jovens brasileiras.
