Descritores (DeCS) 2 :Endometriose Adolescência Contraceptivos combinados orais Menstruação retrógrada RESUMO: Este estudo tem por finalidade analisar o uso de anticoncepcionais orais combinados (ACOs) como método de melhoria na qualidade de vida de adolescentes com endometriose. Destarte, define-se essa doença como uma afecção ginecológica benigna, imuno e estrogênio dependente, crônica, qualificada pela proliferação e desenvolvimento de estroma e de glândulas endometriais externamente ao útero. Atinge de 10 a 15% das mulheres em idade reprodutiva, entretanto, sua incidência abaixo dos 20 anos pode ser negligenciada por profissionais de saúde, acarretando no prolongamento do sofrimento de suas portadoras e no diagnóstico tardio. Contudo, a mulher com suspeitas da enfermidade já pode começar tratamento medicamentoso mesmo sem ser diagnosticada. Portanto, as adolescentes que são acometidas pelos sintomas da doença podem se beneficiar muito com o uso dos ACOs, principalmente quando tomados continuamente, porque possuem poucos efeitos colaterais e podem ser usados por longos períodos de tempo, o que é extremamente positivo ao se avaliar o caráter crônico e progressivo da doença. A atuação dos ACOs reduz a camada endometrial e suspende a ovulação, o que minimiza a extensão tecidual geradora de prostaglandina, substância que, juntamente com as citocinas pró-inflamatórias e quimiocinas são responsáveis pela elevação da dor pélvica, representando um ganho no bem-estar físico e emocional da paciente. Este estudo é uma revisão bibliográfica descritiva qualitativa e a pesquisa empregada na realização do mesmo teve início no mês de janeiro, encerrando-se no mês de março de 2019. Assim, recomenda-se os ACOs para adolescentes com suspeitas de endometriose, juntamente com acompanhamento médico periódico.
