PHYTOSOCIOLOGY AND POTENTIAL OF TREE SPECIES IN AN ECOSYSTEM SUCCESSION IN THE TAPAJOS NATIONAL FOREST, PARÁABSTRACT: It was analyzed the structure of a secondary forest with 10 years in Maguari community, located in the Tapajos National Forest. In an area of 35 ha, 20 plots of 20 m x 100 m were allocated with four subplots, considering five size classes from individuals of height (h) ≥ 0.30 m. The Shannon-Weaver Index for adult stratum (DBH ≥ 10 cm) and for natural regeneration (h ≥ 0.30 m to DBH < 10 cm) were 3.43 and 3.36, respectively. The spatial distribution pattern of the species that occurred was more clustered. The most important species in the area were: Guatteria poeppigiana Mart.[Annonaceae], Cordia alliodora Chamier.[Boraginaceae], Cassia scleroxylon Ducke [Fabaceae] and Vismia latifolia Choisy [Clusiaceae]. The forest has species with potential timber and non-timber needing to manage their establishment and growth.
