SUSCEPTIBILITY OF MAIZE, SOYBEAN AND SOURGRASS TO ROOT LESION NEMATODE ABSTRACT - Weeds are limiting factors to productivity of soybean and maize, due to weeds interference especially by sourgrass (Digitaria insularis), whose occurrence has increased annually due to the resistance to glyphosate herbicide. Besides the direct competition with the crop, weed can also act as an alternative nematode host. This study aimed to evaluate the susceptibility of sourgrass to the Pratylenchus brachyurus in relation to maize and soybean plants. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse, comparing the nematode reproduction in the sourgrass and four maize genotypes DKB 285 VT PRO 2, AS 1555 PRO 2, P 30F53 YHR and DKB 330 VT PRO 2) and one of soybean (NA 5909 RR). The reproduction of P. brachyurus was as efficient in the sourgrass as in maize and soybean. In addition, sourgrass can be considered susceptible to the nematode since the reproductive factor was 4.2, similarly to the other species studied. Keywords: Pratylenchus brachyurus, Digitaria insularis, Zea mays, Glycine max, host.
-Castorbean presents high sensitivity to competition; therefore, it is necessary to develop alternatives for the weed management, mainly for the chemical control of eudicotyledons species. The goal of this work was to evaluate the selectivity of chlorimuron-ethyl to castorbean crops in different development stages. Four experiments differentiated by the genetic material were conducted: Lyra, Íris and Savana hybrids and AL Guarany 2002 cultivar. The treatments corresponded to the application conditions of chlorimuron-ethyl [sample control with no application, doses of 15 e 20 g a.i. ha -1 with the formulations Classic ™ and Clorimuron Master Nortox ™ ] in two phenological crop stages (4 to 5 and 7 to 8 true leaf stages). The experimental design was in randomized blocks with four replications, in a factorial scheme of 5 x 2 (herbicide and application stage). The intoxication was more severe for the 7 to 8 leaf stage and with the dose of 20 g ha -1 on day 7 days after application (DAA); there were plant recovery and mild symptoms on day 21 DAA, especially for the 4 to 5 leaf stage. The yield was reduced with the 20 g ha -1 dose for Lyra hybrid with both formulations and for Savana castorbean, only with the Classic ™ formulation. The chlorimuron-ethyl herbicide, at 15 g ha -1 , showed selectivity to castorbean, regardless of the stage application (4 to 5 or 7 to 8 leaves).
The benefits of chia in human food have been widely explored because its seeds are rich in omega 3, minerals, fibers and proteins. However, crop management information is still restricted, such as the proper use of herbicides for weed control. This research aimed to evaluate the herbicides combinations efficiency and selectivity applied in Salvia hispanica pre-emergence. The experiment was developed in the field, Guarapuava, Paraná State, using a randomized block design, with thirteen treatments and four replications. The treatments were represented by isolated and/or associated herbicides in the respective doses (g ha-1): trifluralin (1440); linuron (990), sulfentrazone (100; 200 and 300), linuron + trifluralin (247+1440; 495+1440 and 990+1440), sulfentrazone + trifluralin (100+1440; 200+1440 and 300+1440), as well as non-applied control and another weeded throughout the whole crop cycle. The tank mixtures with sulfentrazone + trifuralin caused low intoxication to chia culture and the best levels of weed control, being the 100 + 1440 g ha-1 dose the safest one in relation to development and productivity of grains. Sulfentrazone + trifluralin (100 + 1440 g ha-1) and linuron + trifluralin (247 + 1440 g ha-1) were the most selective associations to chia crop. The isolated application of sulfentrazone, trifluralin and linuron was not feasible for the weeds mixed infestation management in the chia crop.
