The Anthomyiidae (Insecta, Diptera) include 1,941 species in 53 genera that are found in a wide range of habitats (forests, cities, agricultural fields). Herein, the anthomyiid fauna of the Atlantic Forest of Palmas (south of the state of Paraná) was surveyed using Malaise traps at altitudes higher than 1,000 meters. The collection of these flies was conducted in Palmas Grasslands Wildlife Refuge (PGWR) that is a full protection conservation unit (CU) surrounded by degraded areas and with high levels of endemism. A total of 12 species of anthomyiid flies (42.3% of Brazilian species) and 7 genera (58.3% of Brazilian genera) were identified, including 9 new records to Paraná (Anthomyia plurinervis (Albuquerque, 1958), A. xanthopyga (Albuquerque, 1959), Calythea comis (Stein, 1911), Coenosopsia ferrari Nihei & de Carvalho, 2004, Emmesomyia auricollis (Stein, 1918), E. sobria (Albuquerque & Couri, 1981), Leucophora maculipennis (Albuquerque, 1953), Pegomya bruchi (Shannon & Del Pont, 1926) and P. poeciloptera Malloch, 1921). Also, we examined some specimens deposited in the Department of Zoology, Universidade Federal do Paraná, the Museu Nacional, Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, and the Museu de Zoologia da Universidade de São Paulo in order to update species’ distribution, leading to a new record for Rio Grande do Sul (Pegomya poeciloptera Malloch, 1921) and 3 new records for Santa Catarina (Anthomyia pluripunctata (Albuquerque, 1959), Calythea comis (Stein, 1911), Leucophora maculipennis (Albuquerque, 1953)). A key to the local genera and diagnoses of species are provided.

The Asian neriid fl y genus Telostylus Bigot (Diptera: Neriidae) is revised, including a key and illustrations of its species. Lectotype designations are proposed for four species: Telostylus babiensis de Meijere, T. decemnotatus Hendel, T. remipes (Walker) and T. trilineatus de Meijere. Two new species are described: Telostylus marshalli Sepúlveda & de Carvalho, sp. n., from Sarawak, Malaysia, and T. whitmorei Sepúlveda & de Carvalho, sp. n., from Masbate, Philippines. The morphology of Telostylus binotatus Bigot and T. remipes (Walker) is discussed in order to support their synonymy. Additionally, new country records are provided for four species: Telostylus babiensis de Meijere for Philippines, T. binotatus Bigot for Papua New Guinea, T. inversus Hennig for Malaysia and Indonesia, and T. trilineatus de Meijere for Malaysia and Philippines.

Resumo: Este estudo apresenta um novo modelo de armadilha de interceptação de voo alternativa à Malaise suspensa e armadilhas do tipo janela. A Double-Umbrella Entomological Trap demanda em média 4 h para confecção e menos de 15 min para ser instalada em campo por uma pessoa. Ela possui custo unitário inferior a R$ 25,00 e é totalmente feita com material de fácil aquisição. Em 12 meses de testes da armadilha (N = 14) em duas áreas de Floresta Atlântica, a nova armadilha coletou 13 ordens de artrópodes numa taxa de ca. 0,15 artrópodes/h. As ordens localmente mais abundantes também foram as mais amostradas: Diptera, Coleoptera, Hemiptera e Hymenoptera. O tempo e custo de confecção da Double-Umbrella Entomological Trap são extremamente baixos e sua eficiência em amostrar múltiplos taxa demonstra que esta nova armadilha possui potencial, por exemplo, em pesquisas de acesso à diversidade entomológica e em amostragens de artrópodes em estudos ecológicos.Palavras-chave: armadilha entomológica; armadilhas do tipo janela; insetos voadores; Malaise. DOUBLE-UMBRELLA ENTOMOLOGICAL TRAP: A HOMEMADE, LOW-COST, AND EFFECTIVE FLIGHT INTERCEPTION TRAP FOR INSECTS.This study presents a new flight interception trap as an alternative to suspended Malaise and window-traps. The Double-Umbrella Entomological Trap takes an average of 4 h for manufacturing and less than 15 min to be deployed in the field by a single person. It costs less than R$ 25.00 each and is fully made of easily obtainable material. We carried out 12 months of field tests of the trap (N = 14) in two Atlantic Forest areas. The new trap collected 13 arthropods orders at a rate of ca. 0.15 arthropods/h. Most locally abundant orders were also the most collected ones: Diptera, Coleoptera, Hemiptera and Hymenoptera. The extreme low manufacturing time and costs of the Double-Umbrella Entomological Trap and its efficiency in sampling multiple taxa supports its usefulness in studies such as those related to the assessment of entomological diversity and to arthropod sampling in ecological studies.

The new genus, Sumapazomyia gen. nov., is proposed for a new species, S. inusitata sp. nov., from the National Natural Park Sumapaz, Bogota, Colombia. The unique morphology of the head and mouthparts, in combination with characters from the male and female terminalia, demonstrate that this new species represents a new and remarkable genus within the muscid tribe Coenosiini.
