(Amphibia, Anura) in a remnant of mixed ombrophilous forest in Santa Catarina State, Southern Brazil. Biota Neotrop. 11(1): http://www.biotaneotropica.org.br/v11n1/en/ abstract?article+bn01211012011.Abstract: Faunal surveys are important tools to enhance biological conservation strategies in different regions. This study presents information on amphibian species richness and species composition in Parque Nacional das Araucárias; the largest conservation unit of mixed ombrophilous forest in Santa Catarina State, Southern Brazil. Active searches were conducted in October 2008 and March 2009 in sites potentially used for reproduction of species. We recorded a total of twenty nine species, being 28 native and one exotic species, and belonging to 16 genera and eight families. The high richness recorded, as well as the occurrence of species associated with nearly pristine habitats, suggest that Parque Nacional das Araucárias is an important area for amphibian conservation in Santa Catarina State.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
