Therefore, elective surgery itself cannot be considered an important trauma that would result in increased energy expenditure. According to this study, it is not necessary to prescribe an energy supply exceeding basal expenditure during the immediate after-surgery period. The present results suggest that the energy supply prescribed during the postoperative period after elective surgery of small-to-medium scope should not exceed 5-7 kJ/min, so the patient does not receive a carbohydrate overload from energy supplementation.
ABSTRACTThis paper aims at studying packaging as an element of communication in the organic products' sector. For this, two packs of organic products are analyzed, one belonging to a non-organic line and another produced by an exclusive brand of organic products. As a result of the analyses, it is clear that the elements that compose the packages are defined based on a series of conventions: category language, brand identity, or stereotypes related to the image of natural products. In order to perform the analysis, Charles S. Peirce's semiotic theory was used.
The purpose of this article is to discuss the ethical implications in the fields of advertising and journalism that have arisen from the development of digital image editing. Supported by perception theorists, cognitivists and semioticians we present a brief review of the main ideas about the realism in photographs and then review the main ethical concepts that are the basis for understanding the object of study. Besides, we observe how, in Brazil, organizations related to the fields of advertising and journalism see this practice. Assuming that even if the belief in the natural bond of photographic representation with reality cannot be sustained, we must consider that the common person is not in a permanent state of readiness to question the images found on the pages of newspapers or magazines.
