ResumoEste artigo tem como objetivo apresentar as medidas tomadas pelo governo brasileiro em relação ao investimento em infraestrutura durante os mandatos dos presidentes Fernando Henrique Cardoso e Lula visando mobilizar a integração da América do Sul no cenário internacional e exercer uma hegemonia consensual legítima na área. Argumenta-se que as obras de infraestrutura física e energética dentro da Unasul fornecem o suporte necessário para que o continente se projete no cenário internacional tendo o Brasil como seu líder e sendo mais capaz de atender às demandas advindas do sistema internacional. The physical and power infrastructure within the Unasur provides the necessary support for the continent growth in the international framework, having Brazil as its leader, and allowing for larger capacity to meet the international system needs.
