Em um programa de promoção em saúde da criança observou-se que as mães adotam diferentes posições posturais para higiene bucal em bebês. Objetivo:Realizar um levantamento acerca das posições mais utilizadas por mães durante a limpeza bucal de bebês com até 08 meses de idade. Metodologia: A amostra foi constituída de 38 mães e seus bebês, participantes do programa de atenção Básica de Saúde, na cidade de Gurupi, Estado do Tocantins, Brasil.Em uma visita domiciliar, solicitou-se que a mãe realizasse a limpeza da cavidade bucal do bebê, em que se fez uma tomada fotográfica neste momento. Posteriormente, as mães preencheram um questionário com perguntas envolvendo o conhecimento sobre saúde bucal da criança. Esta pesquisa teve aprovação do comitê de ética/CAAE: 32671414.4.0000.5518. Resultados: Observou-se que todas as mães receberam as devidas informações sobre a saúde bucal do bebê, mas não foram orientadas quanto a uma posição ideal para limpeza bucal do bebê. O estudo demonstrou que a higienização ocorria mais frequentemente no período da manhã (60,5%), sendo que 75% das mães utilizavam a posição sentada com o bebê apoiado no colo para realizar a higienização bucal, e a fralda (79%) era o instrumento mais utilizado para a limpeza bucal do bebê. O teste qui-quadrado apresentou resultados significativos quanto à posição de limpeza em relação a dificuldade de se realizar a higiene bucal (p=0,008). Conclusão:A posição mais utilizada pela mãe para higienização da boca foi com a criança no colo, notando-se a necessidade de estudos que busquem orientar as mães quanto a uma posição adequada, que promova conforto e segurança na hora deste procedimento.

INTRODUÇÃO:O freio lingual é composto por tecido conjuntivo rico em fi bras colágenas, elásticas e musculares, vasos sanguíneos e células gordurosas, coberto por epitélio pavimentoso estratifi cado, mas quando este se insere na parte anteroposterior do rebordo gengival ou no assoalho da boca e ponta da língua, esta anomalia é chamada de anquiloglossia. Este ponto de inserção é um fator determinante para a elasticidade e mobilidade da língua, que pode limitar as funções de sucção, mastigação, deglutição e até a produção dos sons. OBJETIVO: Descrever um relato de caso de frenectomia em bebê com 4 meses de idade com difi culdade de amamentação, atendida na Clínica Odontológica Universitária, diagnosticada com o "Teste da linguinha" no Projeto de extensão de Atendimento Odontológico Precoce. DESCRIÇÃO DO CASO: A criança apresentava freio lingual curto e espesso, optando-se pela realização da frenectomia lingual. CONCLUSÃO: A frenectomia reduziu a dor da mãe no aleitamento materno, melhorou a amamentação e a deglutição da criança, o que promoveu uma importante medida preventiva para evitar intercorrências futuras devido às disfunções da língua.

The prevention and promotion program in public oral health was effective in preventing caries disease, gingivitis, and malocclusion in children under 5 years of age.

INTRODUCTION: The lingual frenulum is composed of connective tissue rich in collagen, elastic and muscle fibers, blood vessels and fat cells, covered by stratified squamous epithelium, but when it occurs in the anteroposterior part of the gingival line or the floor of the mouth and tip of the tongue, this anomaly is called ankyloglossia. This insertion point is a determining factor for elasticity and tongue mobility, which may limit sucking, chewing, swallowing and even the production of sounds. OBJECTIVE: Describe a case report of frenectomy in a 4 month old baby with difficulty in breastfeeding, attended by the University Dental Clinic, diagnosed with the “Lingual test” in the Early Dental Care Extension Project. CASE REPORT: The child presents a short and thick lingual frenulum, opting for performing of a lingual frenectomy. CONCLUSION: The frenectomy reduced the mother’s pain with breastfeeding, improved feeding and swallowing by the child which promoted an important preventive measure to avoid future complications due to language disorders.

The objective of this study was to propose to mothers two new postural positions to assist in the oral cleaning of infants up to 8 months of age and to verify their acceptance. The sample consisted of 38 mothers and their infants who participated in a program to promote oral health for children. The study consisted of 2 residential visits. In the first, a questionnaire was filled out by the mothers in order to know the habitual position in which the mother performed the hygiene of the baby's oral cavity and there was orientation with the new proposals for oral cleaning (Positions 1 and 2). After 30 days, there was the return to verify which of the positions the mother preferred. Although the mothers received information about the baby's oral health, they weren't told about an ideal postural position to perform oral cleaning. The diaper (86.8%) was the most used instrument, 31.5% found it difficult to clean the child's mouth, in which the majority of mothers reported being afraid of hurting the child during hygiene (91.6%). Position 1 was preferred for oral hygiene (p = 0.01), and of the reasons pointed out, proposal 1 was the easiest one (p = 0.04). All mothers adopted one of the new positions presented and position 1 was the most selected for oral hygiene in children.
