Background: Colic is an important disease of horses. It is a multifactorial and complex disorder. Colic remains one of the common causes of death in horses therefore in present investigation, clinical and haemato-biochemical changes associated with GI colic in horses were studied. Methods: Total 105 horses were examined to study the clinical and haemato-biochemical parameters in colicky horses in southern part of Rajasthan. Result: Mean respiration rate, pulse rate and capillary refill time was found to be significantly increased in horses affected with colic than healthy control animals (P less than 0.05). In haematological indices, mean packed cell volume was significantly increased in colic affected horses (P less than 0.05) whereas mean total platelet count and mean lymphocyte count was found to be significantly decreased (P less than 0.05). In serum biochemical indices, serum aspartate amino transferase, serum alanine amino transferase, blood urea nitrogen, serum creatinine, serum glucose, serum albumin, serum total protein, serum alkaline phosphate and blood lactate were found to be significantly increased in horses affected with colic than healthy control group (P less than 0.05).
Drug errors in anaesthesia can be life threatening. In this article, we report two such mishaps of wrong drug administration. A 12-year-old boy was unintentionally injected atracurium instead of diclofenac for pain relief. He became apneic and did not respond to verbal commands. His trachea was intubated and he was mechanically ventilated. After 40 minutes of sedation, mechanical ventilation and stable hemodynamics, extubation of trachea was done. Another patient was also accidentally injected atracurium in the operating room to provide post-operative analgesia at the end of the surgery. Both the cases had favourable outcome because of a high degree of suspicion, prompt diagnosis and early intubation; very crucial steps in such scenarios. This article concludes that the labels should be carefully checked before drug administration, for the right drug and adequate dosage at the right time.
Myringoplasty and tympanoplasty are descriptive term defining surgical procedure that addresh pathology of the tympanic membrane and middle ear.myringoplasty is an operative procedure used in reconstruction of a perforation of tympanic membrane.this asssume that the middle ear space, its mucosa, and the ossicular chain are free of active infection there is no direct inspection of the middle ear during this procedure impling that the tm not elevated from its sulcus tympanoplasty implies reconstruction of the tympanic membrane but also deals with pathology with in the middle ear cleft such as chronic infection, choleastoma or an ossicular chain problem to distinguish these two terms further rising.in this study we performed 50 cases of myringoplasty using tragal cartilage with/without perichondrium graft material than we compared the result.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
