The identification of influential nodes in complex networks has been widely used to suppress rumor dissemination and control the spread of epidemics and diseases. However, achieving high accuracy and comprehensiveness in node influence ranking is time-consuming, and there are issues in using different measures on the same subject. The identification of influential nodes is very important for the maintenance of the entire network because they determine the stability and integrity of the entire network, which has strong practical application value in real life. Accordingly, a method based on local neighbor contribution (LNC) is proposed. LNC combines the influence of the nodes themselves with the contribution of the nearest and the next nearest neighbor nodes, thus further quantifying node influence in complex networks. LNC is applicable to networks of various scales, and its time complexity is considerably low. We evaluate the performance of LNC through extensive simulation experiments on seven real-world networks and two synthetic networks. We employ the SIR model to examine the spreading efficiency of each node and compare LNC with degree centrality, betweenness centrality, closeness centrality, eigenvector centrality, PageRank, Hyperlink-Induced Topic Search(HITS), ProfitLeader, Gravity and Weighted Formal Concept Analysis(WFCA). It is demonstrated that LNC ranks nodes effectively and outperforms several state-of-theart algorithms. INDEX TERMS Complex networks, influential nodes, local structure, neighbor contribution.
With the rapid development of Internet technology, the social network has gradually become an indispensable platform for users to release information, obtain information, and share information. Users are not only receivers of information, but also publishers and disseminators of information. How to select a certain number of users to use their influence to achieve the maximum dissemination of information has become a hot topic at home and abroad. Rapid and accurate identification of influential nodes in the network is of great practical significance, such as the rapid dissemination, suppression of social network information, and the smooth operation of the network. Therefore, from the perspective of improving computational accuracy and efficiency, we propose an influential node identification method based on effective distance, named KDEC. By quantifying the effective distance between nodes and combining the position of the node in the network and its local structure, the influence of the node in the network is obtained, which is used as an indicator to evaluate the influence of the node. Through experimental analysis of a lot of real-world networks, the results show that the method can quickly and accurately identify the influential nodes in the network, and is better than some classical algorithms and some recently proposed algorithms.
With the rapid development of information technology, the scale of complex networks is increasing, which makes the spread of diseases and rumors harder to control. Identifying the influential nodes effectively and accurately is critical to predict and control the network system pertinently. Some existing influential nodes detection algorithms do not consider the impact of edges, resulting in the algorithm effect deviating from the expected. Some consider the global structure of the network, resulting in high computational complexity. To solve the above problems, based on the information entropy theory, we propose an influential nodes evaluation algorithm based on the entropy and the weight distribution of the edges connecting it to calculate the difference of edge weights and the influence of edge weights on neighbor nodes. We select eight real-world networks to verify the effectiveness and accuracy of the algorithm. We verify the infection size of each node and top-10 nodes according to the ranking results by the SIR model. Otherwise, the Kendall $$\tau$$ τ coefficient is used to examine the consistency of our algorithm with the SIR model. Based on the above experiments, the performance of the LENC algorithm is verified.
The real-world network is heterogeneous, and it is an important and challenging task to effectively identify the influential nodes in complex networks. Identification of influential nodes is widely used in social, biological, transportation, information and other networks with complex structures to help us solve a variety of complex problems. In recent years, the identification of influence nodes has received a lot of attention, and scholars have proposed various methods based on different practical problems. This paper proposes a new method to identify influential nodes, namely Attraction based on Node and Community (ANC). By considering the attraction of nodes to nodes and nodes to community structure, this method quantifies the attraction of a node, and the attraction of a node is used to represent its influence. To illustrate the effectiveness of ANC, we did extensive experiments on six real-world networks and the results show that the ANC algorithm is superior to the representative algorithms in terms of the accuracy and has lower time complexity as well.
