In this study, we investigated the relationship between work-family conflict and job burnout as well as the potential mediation/moderation effects of psychological capital. Participants were 357 university teachers who completed a questionnaire packet containing a work-family conflict scale, psychological capital questionnaire, and Maslach Burnout Inventory-General survey. According to the results, work-family conflict and psychological capital were both significantly correlated with job burnout. In addition, psychological capital cannot mediate-but can moderate-the relationship between work-family conflict and job burnout. Taken together, our findings shed light on the psychological capital underlying the association of work-family conflict and job burnout.
This study focuses on the relationships of unmet expectations to occupational commitment and job satisfaction. The direct and indirect (via occupational commitment) effects of unmet expectations on job satisfaction were investigated in 397 new Chinese employees. For this purpose, structural equation modeling and bootstrap method was used, and fit indices and Chi square values were compared between partially-mediated and fullymediated models. Results confirmed the ubiquity of unmet expectations in newcomers, and confirmatory factor analysis verified its latent structure including unmet prestige, unmet health, and unmet progress. Structural equation modeling and Chi square test indicated the partial mediation of occupational commitment on the relationship between unmet expectations and job satisfaction. Testing the mediating effects using the bootstrap method also revealed a significant path from unmet expectations to job satisfaction through occupational commitment. Findings extended those of prior studies and shed light on the protection of occupational commitment to job satisfaction; these findings provide enlightenment on promoting job satisfaction for new employees in their first few days.
The protection of the ecological environment and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin is a major national strategy. Urbanization is also important and should be promoted more efficiency in China. The ecological environment of the Yellow River Basin has been destroyed, further affecting the process of urbanization. The difficulty of sustainable economic development has increased. Therefore, China needs high-quality economic development. In this context, the coordinated development of the ecological environment, urbanization and high-quality economy in the Yellow River Basin deserve more attention. Based on the time-series data of the Yellow River Basin from 2010 to 2020, this paper analyzes the trend and characteristics of the development of the ecological environment subsystem, urbanization subsystem and high-quality economy subsystem by building a comprehensive evaluation system of the three subsystems, using entropy method and coupling coordination degree model. The results show that: from 2010 to 2020, the comprehensive level show an obvious upward trend; the story of urbanization and high-quality economic growth is higher than the level of ecological environment. Urbanization and economic development show the spatial difference of environmental carrying capacity; the coupling degree has been at a high level, and the coordination degree has changed significantly. We can conclude that the system coordination degree is in a steady upward trend. And, as a whole, it is shifting to order from disorder and getting to the level of coordination. It is helpful to guide the strategy formulation of the coordinated development among the ecological environment, urbanization and high-quality economy in the Yellow River Basin.
