Gastrointestinal stromal tumor’s are the most common mesenchymal tumor of the gastrointestinal tract in adults; stromal tumors in the rectum are extremely rare. We report the case of a 64 years old woman admitted for admitted for etiological assessment of low-grade rectal bleeding and terminal appearance constipation, whose paraclinical investigations showed the presence of a GIST without secondary lesions with a high risk of recurrence and whose therapeutic decision was to start imatinib as a neoadjuvant treatment and then schedule her for a subsequent resection.
Acute pancreatitis is an inflammatory process with multiple etiologies, dominated by biliary lithiasis and alcohol consumption. Primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) with subsequent hypercalcemia as a cause of acute pancreatitis is very rare and frequently overlooked and serum calcium level plays a key role in the pathogenesis. Here we present a case of 53 years old female with hypercalcemic acute pancreatitis resulted from primary hyperparathyroidism caused by a left parathyroid adenoma.
Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease that affects mostly the lung, but can also affect other organs. Intestinal and peritoneal tuberculosis are a fraction of extrapulmonary TB with challenging diagnosis due to nonspecific presentation. The diagnosis is based on multiples arguments and bacteriological and histo-pathological findings are the gold standard to establish it. We hereby report the case of uncommon association of peritoneal and terminal ileal tuberculosis in a 46 years old male patient.
Melanosis coli (MC) is a non-inflammatory, rare, benign, and reversible colonic disorder. That refers to pigmentation of the colonic mucosa, shown by colonoscopy, and Confirmed by the anatomopathological study of colon biopsies. It results from excessive and prolonged use of anthraquinone laxatives, and usually resolves within a few months after discontinuing the laxatives. We present the case of a 60 year old woman presenting with chronic abdominal pain constipation, and revealing Melanosis Coli following prolonged use of laxatives.
