Three novel oxamido-bridged heterobinuclear copper(II)-nickel(II) complexes incorporating two different tetraazamacrocyclic compounds were synthesized and characterized by IR, ESR, and electronic spectra. They are of the formulas [(CuL 1 )Ni(rac-cth)](ClO) 42´H2 O (1), [Cu(L 2 )Ni(rac-cth)](ClO 4 ) 2´0 .5 EtOH (2), and [(CuL 3 )Ni(rac-cth)](ClO 4 ) 2´H2 O (3). L 1 , L 2 , and L 3 are the dianions of diethyl 5, 6,7,8,16,17-hexahydro-6,7-dioxo-15H-dibenzo[e,n][1,4,8,12]tetraazacyclopentadecine-13,19-dicarboxylate, diethyl 5,6,7,8,15,16-hexahydro-6,7-dioxodibenzo[1,4,8,11]tetraazacyclotetracine-13,18-dicarboxylate, and diethyl 5,6,7,8,15,16-hexahydro-15-methyl-6,7-dioxodibenzo[1,4,8,11]tetraazacyclotetradecine-13,18-dicarboxylate, respectively, and rac-cth is rac-5,7,7,12,14,14-hexamethyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane. The crystal structures of 1 and 2 were determined by single-crystal X-ray analysis. The Ni II ion is pseudooctahedrally coordinated. The coordination geometry around the Cu II ion in 2 is slightly distorted square planar, while that in 1 shows significant distortion towards a tetrahedral structure. The temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility for 1 and 2 was analyzed by means of the Hamiltonian H Ã À 2JS Ã 1´S Ã 2 , leading to J À 63.9 and À 67.4 cm À1 for 1 and 2, respectively.

Breast cancer has become the most newly-diagnosed cancer and the 5 th leading cause of cancer death worldwide. The 5-year survival rate of breast cancer is about 90%. However, the 5-year survival rate drops to <30% when metastasis to distant sites occurs. The blood vessel formation (i.e., angiogenesis) plays a crucial role during the metastatic process. In this study, we investigated the role of PFKFB4 in angiogenesis of breast cancer. Employing in vitro HUVEC tube formation or in vivo orthotopic mouse model, and gene editing or specific small inhibitors strategy, and utilizing qPCR, western blot, ELISA, or immunofluorescent/immunohistochemistry staining methods, we found the following: 1) PFKFB4 upregulates IL-6 expression via NF-κB signaling in breast cancer cells; 2) PFKFB4-induced lactate secretion contributes to NF-κB activation in breast cancer cells; 3) IL-6 elicits angiogenesis via STAT5A/P-STAT5 in HUVEC; 4) 5-MPN (a specific PFKFB4 inhibitor) suppresses angiogenesis in vitro and in vivo. Our findings suggest a potential strategy whereby 5-MPN may lead to an improved therapeutic outcome for breast cancer patients.

There are many uncertain factors in the modern distribution network, including the access of renewable energy sources and the heavy load level. The existence of these factors has brought challenges to the stability of the power distribution network, as well as increasing the risk of exceeding transmission capacity of distribution lines. The appearance of flexible load control technology provides a new idea to solve the above problems. Air conditioners (ACs) account for a great proportion of all loads. In this paper, the model of dispatching AC loads in the regional power grid is constructed, and the direct load control (DLC) method is adopted to reduce the load of ACs. An improved tabu search technique is proposed to solve the problem of network dispatch in distribution systems in order to reduce the resistive line losses and to eliminate the transmission congestion in lines under normal operating conditions. The optimal node solution is obtained to find the best location and reduction capacity of ACs for load control. To demonstrate the validity and effectiveness of the proposed method, a test system is studied. The numerical results are also given in this article, which reveal that the proposed method is promising.

Adipose stromal/stem cells (ADSCs) could regulate malignancy behaviors of breast cancer, which was due to adipose-derived cytokines in part, such as leptin and resistin. Recently, peptides have been demonstrated to be potential targets for cancer therapy. It's valuable to analyze the characters of adipose-secreted peptides systematically. In this study, we isolated primary adipocytes from adipose tissue adjacent to breast tumor and breast benign lesions respectively, and then co-cultured breast cancer cells MCF-7 with tumor adjacent adipocytes (TAAs)/breast benign adipocytes (BBAs) separately. Compared to BBAs, TAAs could promote proliferation and migration ability of MCF-7. Then we extracted and purified peptides from supernatant of TAAs and BBAs using ultrafiltration, and the effects of TAAs-derived peptides compound on breast cancer cells appeared accordance with the adipose cells. 100 peptides, which were derived from 90 protein precursors, were found to be differentially secreted between TAAs and BBAs by LC-MS/MS (p &lt; 0.05). Gene Ontology (GO) and Pathway analyses appeared that these altered peptides were mainly contributed to cell adhesion, and regulation of Ras-protein signal transduction. These results showed that these differentially secreted peptides could regulate breast cancer cell malignancy, which indicated that they could be potential therapeutic targets and diagnostic bio-marker for breast cancer.
