The Altarelli-Parisi equations are derived without using ( 1 -z)+ regularization and 6( 1-2) function insertion. We find that virtual diagrams from renormalization give a negative contribution to parton evolution and the effect of these virtual diagrams is equivalent to that of some real diagrams with opposite sign. In this new approach, momentum conservation and valence-quark-number conservation of parton-number densities are satisfied automatically. A consistent probabilistic picture of parton evolution inside a hadron is also given.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
